Wingman - An X-Wing Story | Star Wars Fan Film | 2023 

Hey. This is Michael. Thank you all for the amazing resonance we're getting from you! 100k in three days!!! That's far beyond our expectations! As this was mentioned many times: the reasons why dialogue and ADR are the weaker part of the film are that I had the great idea to change the script AFTER we finished shooting. So we had to put new text over existing footage, and english is not our native language. Also keep in mind, that non of the cast and crew had any former experience in filmmaking whatsoever. We are just some friends who came together and tried to make something cool. So again thank you all!!! ...and perhaps consider supporting our next project via Ko-fi. 😊

I was almost going to say that this is hands down the best fan film I have ever seen, but… this is probably the best new movie I have watched in a long time! It may have only been 50 minutes (which is long for fan films), but it was so intense I almost couldn’t stand it. I was lost in the Star Wars Galaxy for the first time in a long time. That is what I want as a fan. This movie was an escape and I love it! Thank you so much for all of the hard work you obviously put into this film.

I’m blown away. 1) This is the BEST USE for what at Y-Wing is capable of. 2) this has such an honest feel of what rogue squadron should feel and be like. 3)The Score and SFX were really cool! 4)knowing the limited budget you had, I applaud you for making this.

This is what a Star Wars movie should look like. Respect to the makers.

Finally a film where TIE-Fighters are not destroyed after one hit. The one TIE Fighter Pilot that performed amazing skills with his machine.. Man, what if he had a TIE Interceptor or even a TIE Defender? He would be an absolute nightmare for all rebel pilots.. This is one of the best fan Films I've ever seen. Great job! 👍🏻

locking s-foils to go faster......showing the correct power meters when setting all power to engines...the correct sound effects.....it's like I'm a kid playing X-Wing vs TIE Fighter again!!

WOW it took almost 20 yrs to get another good Star Wars film. And it's made by actual fans and not Disney checkboxers. As a life long fan of Star Wars, especially the X-Wings novels, this was great. Hope to see more of this from y'all in the future.

This is not just a "Fan Film"... This is a Homage! This is love and passion for the roots of the Golden Age of good old Star Wars. After all the latest disappointments during the past years... (well, I enjoyed Rogue One & Andor of course!) ...this Fan Film really blew me away. I can`t remember the last time I didn`t move for 50 minutes and just totally fell into something - but this film made it happen. Thank you very much for this experience. I loved flying with you. I loved being your Wingman!

I’m not usually all that into fan films…….but, that was BY FAR the best Star Wars dogfight I’ve ever seen on any an all mediums. The speed, the movement of the ships, some actual dogfighting strategy, and the graphics were first rate. Perhaps the best compliment I could pay is that this is what Star Wars is supposed to be. Kudos and congrats to all involved, for one helluva job well done.

This was the first time in a lot of years I could actually sit back and just lose myself in and enjoy something Star Wars related. You made something special, and it reminds me why I fell in love with Star Wars in the first place.

Easily one of, if not the best fan film I have watched in a long, long time. 50 minutes well spent. If I did not know this was a fan film, you would not notice that these are not professional actors. Leute, ein mega geiler Fanfilm, der mein altes Star Wars Fan Herz höher schlagen lässt!

This fan film had no business being as good as it was. I’m in disbelief. Echoing what someone else said, it’s not just a good Star Wars film- it’s just a solid FILM. Only a fan could know how to write a love letter like this for fellow fans. The acting and direction were professional; I lost myself in the story from the first dialogue. The visuals and just the overall feel felt like finally going home and getting the Star Wars we deserve. And the references to and easter eggs for the X-Wing computer game series … just perfection. If you know, you know :) I’m so happy this popped up on my RU-vid page. I can’t wait for the sequel. …We’re getting sequels, right?!

The Force is strong with this one.

The insult of using a downed droid to take out an ace denies him entry into Valhalla. That was one the most creative moments I’ve seen in a Star Wars film EVER. I played Rogue Squadron on the N64 as a kid and haven’t smiled experiencing Star Wars like this in forever. To everyone involved in the production of this fan film and the viewers who got warm blooded joy out of this I salute you all😊

I absolutely loved this. Watching it felt just like playing the classic X-Wing and TIE Fighter PC games from the early 90s.

In the 90's game, "X-Wing", I used to ram Tie fighters with my X-Wing on purpose after I maxed out my shields. This was a fun movie. A+! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Wow! I was just passing by thinking I’d be here for a few minutes tops- but I got sucked right in and had to put my busy life on hold for the next 52 minutes and 25 seconds because I was *not* gonna wait to see Wingman through to the end. This… is a *masterpiece*!

This is very impressive! Very creative design for the dogfight scenes, interesting characters, and great production values.

Simply amazing for "Normal" people. Its unreal what people can do even without the backing of huge budget movie houses. Excellent in every way guys, truly a masterpiece.

19:30 that's easily one of the most brutal kills I've seen in a Star Wars film! This entire fan film was freaking phenomenal! Props and kudos to everyone involved in making this! you all created something that, in my opinion, is as good as movies like Rogue One, and the show Andor.

As an X-Wing veteran, I got hooked from the first minute and could not stop watching the full thing. Amazing work. I love the tactics, ship roles, personalities of the pilots, small epic moments like the Y-wing releasing a cloud of mines, cinematography. I love it all!

OHMYGOD!!!!!! THAT WAS F83KING AMAZING!!! BEST DAMN FIGHTER BATTLE not only in any of the STAR WARS movies, but in any space battle ive EVER SEEN!

This is the only thing real star wars fans want.

Why didn't they just hyper space ram the imp star? Joking! I loved the mechanical details of the ships. And the tactics being used. Really wish I could watch this at a convention with fans, but oh well. Couple bits that really stood out was how you gave characterizations to the pilots. The Imp Ace savoring the kill by taking single separated shots and then in the effort to get at his prey, he shoots through an ally. Also the ship fighter tactics being used that highlighted their different roles like the Y-wing cluster bombing tactic to give the transport an escape vector.

This is the type of product you get when Disney aren't involved in SW. I honestly felt like i was back in 1977 as a 6 year old watch A New Hope for the 1st time. Thank you @michaelsbasement for making my year.

The best Star Wars fan film to date! I worked at Electronic Arts for 5 years as a Senior Art Director, so understand that my opinion has some weight behind it :) Awesome work.

Turrific movie! Perfect models, energetic cinematography, credible radio distribution, well planned actions and the "actors" finally acted plausibly! What else need? :) 10/10

*You. Guys. Nailed. It.* This was amazing. Probably the most intense, wild, amazing dogflight sequence in the entire Star Wars universe I've ever seen. Action, Storyline, Characters, Special Effects, Camera Angles, and the special details. Everything is perfect. And one can say you definitely are veterans who played games like X-Wing Alliance excessively. Also you guys read the X-Wing novels of Rogue & Wraith squadron. The forward engagements of X-Wings vs TIEs. Guns, green & red laserfires blazing. And the fact TIEs are more manouverable and faster so they will turn faster and try to get behind of the X-Wings. While X-Wings are configurating their shields to maximize front shields to have better chance at surviving the first engagement. Then splitting up in pairs of two to cover each other and try to pick TIEs out. Maximizing aft-shields when followed by TIEs. Also both factions always operate in pairs of two where the wingman supports the lead. You really really nailed it. Props to all the hard work you guys have put in as a team. From directors to actors or camera men or special effects or cutters, programmers, also costume design and make-up artists. Everything is amazing. Thank you. For contributing a unique, exciting, awesome story to the Star Wars universe. You make countless lifes across the entire world very happy. Maybe even across the entire galaxy one day, far far away from now. From the deepest of my hearts. Thank you for your awesome work.

This is absolutely the best fan film I ever seen. The addition of real world physics and ships taking damage is better than ANY actual SW movie from Lucasfilm or Disney. WOW.

This was awesome! The acting was good, the only bit that was not convincing to me was the moment the tie fighter did not shoot and also the x-wing pilot took his sweet time to contemplate over this fact. I loved the damage modeling on the ships and how that influenced the story. Overall a great movie!! I love to see more of this.
