Peter O'Toole, a renowned movie actor, shocks the world by asserting that he has authored a book. Bizarre and utterly fascinating, absurdist, death-after-life fantasy-philosophical comedy with intriguing script acted by a great cast in a very handsome production, The artificiality and pointlessness of existence are exactly the point of the plot. Like Alice in Wonderland and No Exit rolled into one glorious trainwreck.

I was having a hard time judging this film. I smoked 4-5 inhalations of some sort of Mari Juana product. I then took a tranquilizer as the weed made me anxious. so I am not trusting my judgement. I was torn between describing this pic as a witty surrealist look at death, or judging It to be a movie suitable for the midnight viewings that were common back in the 60s 70s and 80s . I gather you like the film . I can't believe that you threw in that metaphor involving both Alice in Wonderland and No Exit. Brilliant! you have made the place more interesting. Perhaps you could write a treatment. and maybe that leads to a script . Eventually you might need another writer. If so, let me know. Now about you. I have gleaned that you are intelligent,creative, educated and an egg head wannabee. I hope that everything goes well for you. Your art is a gift from u2u. Don't let it die. Nurture that aspect of you for it will be a source of comfort throughout your life.

I haven’t seen this film before. In the beginning I thought it’s a contemporary nightmare movie, but I made myself continue watching it. In the result of this I fall in love. So many topics were attached. Real existence is deeply involved living in this crazy world. Wonderful,wonderful movie. Thank you.

The writing (Koch) and the directing (Votocek) of 'Wings of Fame' is sending me back to those tedious school years of studying the absurd, Bizzaro works of Franz Kafka! Obviously, both creators are huge fans of their compatriot, "Kafkaesque" style, for this film speaks the Kafkanian language. Or, as we were approaching 'Year 2000' (release date 1990) Messrs. Koch & Votocek wanted to stop Kafka's descend into 'the oblivion' and the inevitable consequences! Impressive acting from an array of gifted actors, whom, undoubtably, admired his (Kafka) strange, yet, nonchalant style. Thank you. 🤔😏🎭

This reminds me of the 1972 film "Haunts of the Very Rich", but this is better done. The hotel is amazing, some of the shots could be paintings. Also shades of The Eagles' Hotel California. You can check out any time you want, but you can never leave... And, of course, Colin Firth!

This is one of the most original films I ve ever seen .. It s not perfect but still .. Such an overloked movie , should have gained cult status I think .. Peter O Tool is phantastic , Marie Trintigniant is drop dead French-gorgeous and the song is one of my ever favourites .. Oh, the irony of fame! I only recognised three names and two and a half anonymous actor's faces. For those to whom the tennis player's boyfriend is unknown, he was once a National Theatre lead, and one of the great classical players of the 1960s stage, before alchohol destroyed most of his career. RIP Robert Stephens. PS A film about people being mystified and bored has yet to be made interesting to watch.

We have now gradually arrived at the time frame where we can estimate the extent to which certain film script writers, directors, etc have guessed correctly. It is of course the inspirations such as George Orwell, Aldous Huxley, Edward Bernays, Franz Kafka, etc that one has used to make a kind of Sci-Fi movie, but for us many things have become very recognizable because they have now become reality during this time of crisis or will become reality very soon. Distopian times "just like in the movies"!

I liked it. Easy watch(except for totally gratuitous sex scene with Nigella Lawson/Monica Bellucci lookalike, Tretignan) and amusing. I was always wondering what did Colin Firth look like when he was young. He was spitting image of Mark Ruffalo... in his thirties... if he were slim 🤣
