You can tell Patty still get psyched when he scores. The passion and smarts are there, even if the legs don't have the same pop. Hockey will do that to you.
his injury occurred or was first reported by him as a serious issue in the empty stadium playoffs in summer 2020. go look at his shooting % in the seasons before that, then look at his shooting %'s in that playoffs and in the next 3 regular seasons and 23 playoffs. the injury wrecked his ability to play anything like defense, but it also destroyed his shooting %. it made goal scoring suddenly really hard for him. he was scoring some goals this year that he has not scored in literally years. i think the struggle to finish and the low shooting %'s and the long goalless droughts during those 3 years and 2 playoffs made him extra appreciative of goals. and when this year started w him being like 1/25 in shooting, he probably thought it was continuing. also while i am not sure how much can be recovered, he specifically mentioned that he means to work on regaining some explosiveness this offseason and fully strengthen the hip. so he noticed what is not quite there and is going to do what he can. will be fun to see if he succeeds.
Great to see Patrick happy and healthy. He's been a great fit in Detroit and I wish him continued success. Hopefully there's a nice playoff run in the near future.
I love Kaner’s comeback story so far, and I’m glad to see he is gelling well with the team in Detroit. Obviously with Cat, but Larkin and other guys too. I think having someone like him who has won 3 Stanley Cups, multiple international medals, and is widely referred to as the greatest US born player really brings a different kind of energy to the locker room and even the fans. Whether or not Kane wears a letter on this team, just his level of experience - and kind of experience - provides a unique sense of leadership, because here’s a guy who’s done it all, and he’s here to do it again with this group. He still loves the game more than ever, still puts on a great show, and he’s still hungry for more. If anyone was going to successfully bounce back from a surgery as invasive as his, it was always going to be Patrick Kane.
I couldn’t imagine if the timing was right to see Kane & Datsyuk play with one another in Red Wings uniform. Pure Domination. For that of wishful thinking we Salute you #13 X🫡💪
Lmao cute but our best player Larkin would be Panthers 3rd line center right now considering Barkov is a true #1 and Carter is beasting this year and we have no Tkachuk or Reinhart or Bob and we have only 1 dman who could be playing on their top 4 right now so gimme a break with these delusions🙄
Showtime is on his game, 3 O.T winners in a row. Glad to see Kanes determination and his versatility with different players, Hes unlocked Larkin and Raymond in a sense also, Larkin has been great but there was always the question is he a true 1C or is he only a 1C in Detroit due to the teams weaknesses, Larkin is a 1C and its showing now hes coming into his prime years. Raymonds foundation is strong and hes becoming a point producer and playing 200 feet, Lyon is an absolute blessing, Debrincat has been lights out from the start, its nice to see the team forming an identity and having fun playing right, You notice the bond forming with Kane and Seider? Kane and Raymond? Probably others as well but ive noticed his commitment to the young guns passing on the knowledge and its an amazing sight honestly. Both Kane and Toews always reminded me of the two stages of Stevie Ys career, The flashy goal scorer and then the 200 foot player who played defense as well as he did offense. I hope the wings and Kane can stay healthy and have a good run. Stay blessed everyone 👊🏼
Fun fact Kane actually spent time in Detroit as a kid he lived with former red wings player while he played for Nationaly ranked youth hockey organization Honey baked AAA hockey when he was 15-16 he had a 250 point season…he cried to come home to his parents but they pushed him to stay and follow his dream and we are so lucky he did Detroit is honestly where his path to the NHL truly began
From a rangers fan, he also chose to come to NY. However, I thought that was more to see if he could test the market knowing full well he’d jump ship to play somewhere else. Just sucks cuz I really like paddy, I have his rangers jersey and hope he shows he’s still got gas in the tank.
he went to NY bc he was being forced out of Chicago (w Toews) after 22-23 and would be a free agent, and was planning to get a surgery that could be career ending. so he figured why not get a head start on his future career as a player on other teams + get a free playoff run before getting a surgery that could just end everything. it was basically a no lose situation. and he did his job despite the injury, it was just that nobody else did. it is a shame Drury didn't bring him back this year or try to when the 2 would have been a perfect match, but from Drury's perspective i get it. and so far it hasn't cost him.
We have to resign this man. He’s got like 23 points in 24 games, or something close to that. This isn’t the early 2000’s, it’s not as physical. I think he could continue to produce. Steve has to resign him. He will help our younger guys and take pressure off guys like Larkin and Raymond. He will also help draw in free agents.
Steal of a contract, almost a point a game. Great passing still creates mismatches. The give and go with Kane to the right side of the net is really becoming problematic for opposing defenders.
Insane to hear how much the Sabres had to do with his life and he CHOSE to never come play for us. He won his cups with Chicago and then extended with them and now went to Detroit. At least crybaby Lebron went home and won one for his hometown before going elsewhere. He no longer has any connection to Buffalo as far as I'm concerned and is a complete traitor. Disgraceful to say the least. Foresake your hometown for money, especially after assaulting it's residents like they're nothing but nobodies to you smfh.
@@SMG2fanatic Very. Hope you guys have a generational talent come out of Detroit, that grew up watching the Wings as his favorite team and refuses to play for them.
Chicago didn't ask him to stay as far as they were concerned he was injured and would never play like when they got him. I think he wanted the Hawks to keep him but no, so don't blame him!
go read the 2016 sports illustrated cover story about him, the opening of the article is about his first game back in Buffalo as a visitor after the scandal. Buffalo fans were vicious to him, the worst or at least one of the worst visiting crowds that entire season. his whole family was at the game. i'm not saying that's why but i bet it's something he thinks about when considering playing there. these guys have long memories.
