@@sandakureva I once heard a skydiver give an analogy that has since stuck with me. Skydivers and base jumpers are given two jars. One jar has luck, the other has nothing. And with every successful jump you perform, you take some luck out of the first jar and place it in the experience jar. Eventually, your luck runs out and you begin to solely rely on your experience. Their point is that eventually, your luck will run out.

i know some base jumpers, two of them say they are afraid of heights and they hate climbing an open area. they also say it makes them feel like they can handle any life situation afterwords when you are shaking with fear and overcome it like this. and a classic answer to why they are doing it, "i dunno, i just know it makes me smile and be happy"

Tandem is nothing like jumping solo. Solo dive is better and in my opinion less scary because you are in full control. The main thing is to check your gear, check it again then when you are sure everything is good, then have someone check you then check again. Dont cheap out on gear, understand how everything works and have fun.

What I'd love to know is: How do you do that for the first time? And, is it obligatory to talk like a character from Point Break?

Well, you do a skydiving aff course and then jump atleast 200 solo jumps. Then you enter a wingsuit firstflight course and start skydiving with a wingsuit and get atleast multiple hundreds of jumps with that. Somewhere along that timeline you also do your first base jump vourse and start doing normal base jumps, then base jumps with a tracksuit and finally you combine all of this and start practicing wingsuit base jumping. When you are really experienced in that you will then maybe get into this close to terrain flying
