10 day's ago I buy MVG EXACT set from Turku, Finland! Shafts was too short to me , but I put medium shafts.Together with Nylon Flights they fly better! Thank you this video and this Channel! And today I buy Winmau ' s MVG design wallet from same shop in Turku!
Very good review as usual. Thank you for taking time to create it. I’ve wondered what these darts looked liked up close, but now I know all about them. Quite a bit different than the Simon Whitlock variety.
I guess it all depends on whether you get your grip sensation from the milling or from the surface texture (or both). I've just gotten these in house, and I really enjoy the "soft feel" of the coating. It somehow even makes the smooth sections not being slippy.
Excuse if im wrong, but you got to give it to winmau for their marketing, leading up to the launch MVG was using these, and during the launch he says about why he’s chose 21.5g, but in the recent tournament it looks like he’s using older darts and on their little intro before his games you can see it says “Winmau 23g”
lol as you say its all marketing, remember for a long time Adrian Lewis was using his Unicorn darts while Target were releasing all version of his Target darts.
Dart model is called "exact", but has a huge weight difference? That´s exactly my kind of humour, Winmau! ;) Joke aside, if someone already owns one of van Gerwen´s dart sets, I don´t see a good reason to buy this one. Basically the same form as his earier XQMax sets and all the other MvG sets from Winmau.
I guess I got a little lucky, all my barrels weight 21.6 grams. As per the way I throw, these darts definitely prefer a forward grip. Thanks Darren, great review.
There actually the ones he uses. He said in an interview that when he was sponsored by xq max the set he used were 22g but he weighed them and because they were so battered and lost the grip they went down to 21.5g and because of what happened with the grip he got these sand blasted to try and get the "exact" same darts back 👍
Nice looking straight barrel dart. I would have liked Winmau to put black points on the set instead of silver; I actually thought it would be more grippy too with that sandy looking coating. Thanks for the review 👍🏻
The coating and I think the way its machined is to achieve the soft feel it refers to on the back, so its kind of like its a feeling of a worn in dart which is probably what MVG has asked for but no idea if he is going to use them or has used them already? Cheers! :)
@@DartsReviewChannel It turns out he's using them this season. He's done well with them in Premier League. I might want to purchase a set just to be cool like MvG. 🙂
Darren; really nice review. I would have preferred a black point on these (don't like silver points), but overall looks like a really nice dart. I'm wondering how the coating will hold up over time? Thx
yeah much prefer a black point, one curious thing I have found though is the Ultra seems to hold the silver points quite well, seems strange so wonder if others are experiencing that, the Blade 6 does not like them much though :)
Nice looking dart but after watching MVG using them at the weekend the coating had already rubbed off the front. It’s the same with every coated or painted dart, they look shite after a couple of months. Good review but Rocky was spot on 👍🏻🎯🎯🎯
@@stevenismo1961 does not sound so good if he is changed again, still it may not be a good way to sell a set of darts, the battered and worn look of his old faithfuls lol
Hahaha! These mvg's should be renamed the; Exactly-Not's! Or... Replica, for short 😎 You really crack me up during the weight-in. I still like Winmau though, but only goes to show, getting a player endorsed darts doesn't make one get any better (only imo) 😎 it's practice. Rocky approved 😁
They seem to be the ideal dimensions for me and seriously considering buying them. I am always wary of the atomised coatings as I used to throw Ted Hankey darts and the atomised version of them were so slippy
ive been following your channel for a lil while now and its awesome keep up the good work :D oh btw id love to have a crack at winning those crazy whitlock darts
certainly feel better when warmed up more but not as nice as the sandblasting coating felt on the Taylor Gen 8 but they were a thicker dart so could be down to what the individual feels :)
Nice video, Darren as usual. Would you please give me a thing you wear on your right hand? I have similar one from China but it's a bit tight to me as Chinese have smaller hands than me. it helps but I need a little bit bigger and i don't want to buy anything wrong
the problem is as you highlight its very hard to get the right size, the one I am wearing is the Cuesoul one but think its about right. I think most of the brands do them now though. They usually have a chart detailing the measurements though so you can decide. I put it on because my wrist is hurting and I could not find my wrist strap but the sleeve worked well enough.
@@DartsReviewChannel I don't know why but I throw better with a sleeve . it's probably because a muscle is much warmer an it's really important here...Regarding darts those Winmau darts are just copy/paste of his previous QXmax darts. Only brand is different.
@@TomasMisura its strange but when I first put the sleeve on it gave me a cooling sensation and was a while before I felt warmer but think it does help a little with aches and pains which I have many of lol The darts like I said are the same MVG darts he has always had, just a minor change I think.
@@DartsReviewChannel I noticed the basketball players wear those sleeves on hands and legs also probably due to keep their muscles warmer and suck sweat . I have noticed 2 or 3 dart players use it as well. So I believe more and more players will be using it more often
As a matter of fact these are called the exact not because of their weight, but because these are the darts that Michael uses. The weight is 21.5 grams because his old darts (supposedly the master darts) lost 1.5 grams in their decade of use. If im not mistaken Michael has been using these darts for a while now and regularly switches to a new set, so that he doesn't get used to a worn set again.
I'm not a fan of those coated darts, maybe I haven't tried one. It looks good a far and first when you opened the box kinda moist it must have been the temperature. One more Rocky kind mad, nice review stay safe as always
really not sure about these for me, got them in 23g and very good match weight (1x 22.99g , 2x 23.02g) but the grip is a little too aged. have been trying to find a replacement dart for the Adam Paxton that I current use which I believe was based originally on the MvG dart. They start off too being too grippy, but once the sharp edge is taken off are nice, but as they lose more grip and I tend to swap out after 9 -12mths, which is where I'd say these MvGs are grip wise (if not more so). The main difference though is I've found these darts need to be thrown at the board, as they don't seem to fly through the air as quick as most of the darts I've tried and just seem to die at the end of their flight. I might need to try a few different stem\flight combos but doubt they will ever become my match dart.
Yeah the grip is definitely mirroring a kind of well worn dart, guess it depends what you prefer as I'm sure some will like it straight out of the box, it's not a dart for me though 😊
@@IKenexPSN Still rotating between 4 sets of paxtons as match darts, but the McKicks Premiums Whites might be worth a go, fly ok and not overly grippy out of the box, but will probably loose too much grip quickly and be short lived, but the they are not too badly priced to give a try. Personally I think I'm going to go with Snakebite World Champ 2020 edition, slightly longer and thinner vs the paxton, but they fly the best with my grip\throw. they land slightly flatter with the 100micron std flights I use, but playing about with some 75micron stds that are giving me the tail up entry to the board I'm looking for. Not had the guts to use in a match yet, but not far off trying 🙂
@CutByLew a few others I've tried lately that are worth a try. Mission Rebus M3 in 23g which balance and width are very much like the Paxtons but are a different type of grip and don't have any reference points on the barrel if you use them, and probably the closest I've found so far, Peter Wright Snakebite Euro 11's in 24g (85% tungsten)
To my memory, that is the biggest weight discrepancy of a Winmau set of darts I have seen. Other than that these looks like a dart I could very well with.
Well it's the skill that matters if you can't throw 26 gram darts accurately then nether darts are good enough I tried 23g darts I am think 26g is hefty but 24gram barrels are a sweet spot for practice darts
not sure, all straight barrel darts work for any grip so depends where you grip as there is a smooth part and its slightly front weighted due to been drilled out a fair amount so could be
Mvg darts looks a bit different. Looks like aluminium, old, without any grip onit...look close in tv..maybe he was polish theme to lose grip completely???
Nice review Darren looks like an old used dart 🤣, good couple of trebles in there unlucky with the 60 floor 😉 the fiendish foul-mouthed fiend could have been tricky 🤣😂
This seems an odd question since it's the darts main selling point lol but does anyone know if there is a way to remove the atomised coating from these darts? After grouping some of it seems to come off when there is dart on dart contact so I was hoping to find a way to remove it completely.
dont know myself, not sure if the atomised coating is a coating or a treatment like sandblasting, if its a similar thing to sandblasting then I dont think its possible to remove it
Thanks for the reply :-) i won't go trying anything crazy if that's the case, I thought it might just be a light coating. I'll keep using them for a long time and see how they wear. I wish it was possible to get these darts in a normal finish. I know many people point to the mckicks which I already have a set of and like almost as much but the cut of the rings on this is slightly different than the mckicks version. I also have a set of the authentics but again the barrel is different in other ways with that one (shorter and more wide)
probably a combination of those things, mostly the darts not been the most suitable for my throw but not many throws have darts flying in perfectly smooth motion, a lot is how I throw them but some darts I can throw more smoothly and stable than others, check the slow-mo on these ones: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Jv7MSh3b188.html
