I believe the sound difference might also come from the different ways of mounting the dartboard. With the Winmau one you have a stronger connection to the wall with relatively hard materials and the cardboardfrom your Aspar board might not get all the vibrations accross if that even makes any sense at all ^^' just a thought though, I only have a Blade 5
@WorldwideDarts
@WorldwideDarts 2 года назад
I thought that might be the case but my Blade 5 is really quiet and so is my One80 G3 with the Unicorn roto lock things. It's definitely just the Blade 6. It's my loudest and softest board I've owned.

Hi WW….good video, thanks. Been using B5 for a while, my throw is not very hard, yet my points do go in quite deep on B5. Yet as I have watched lots of pro’s playing on B6 - seems their points hardly go in to the board. It seems they remove darts from the board effortlessly all at once. Would be interesting to know why. Thanks.

Hi, WW I’m in USA and watch your channel. Learned about Dartshopper from you and their great shipping prices to US. I replaced the Unicorn Board from Big Box US store with a Winmau Blade 6from Dartshopper for $57. Wow. wow, wow - no bounce outs. No staples! No more DIY fixing Unicorn Board with hammer to get wiring back in. frequent off the staples and wires popping off. Unicorn bullseye guarded by braces! Who knew dartboards shouldn’t spin when darts removed? Rotalock system great. (Winmau B6 cost less and 10x better than US store). So, just want to thank you for that. Price has since gone up; but from this video, I’d say you can’t go wrong with any Winmau Blade, or the Gladiator 3+, or, it seems with the Target board. (Go by best deal). My Blade 6 isn’t loud; the darts go deep enough to stay but not so deep I can’t pull them out, or make me think it obvious I need more cores. It seems the aesthetics of the board and size of the doubles/trebles would be more important. Durability of Blade 6 flawless so far!

Great review. I’m just getting into darts and I got the blade 6 triple core. I have a fairly hard throw with 23g and 24g darts but they don’t go as far into the board as yours did on your blade 6. It is louder than the viper shot king board I have but I think the rota lock system transfers the vibration to the wall making it louder than other boards.

been using my regular version blade 6 for almost 2 months, and i don't seem to have the issue you do. while i do not have a very hard throw, i have used 12, 18, 21 and 24 gram darts and none of them go in as deep as that. all of them fitted with harrows apex smooth silver 36mm points. 24 goes in slightly further then halfway, the 12 significantly less then halfway. noise i would say is slightly less then my previous board, a blade 4.
@bkbum7857
@bkbum7857 2 года назад
The loudness of the Blade 6 vs the Aspar is likely more due to the Rota-Lock mounts than the density (or lack thereof) of the board. The cardboard you used to wedge in the Aspar board cushions the board and absorbs sound; the Roto-Lock is solid and doesn't absorb any sound.
@WorldwideDarts
@WorldwideDarts 2 года назад
This was mentioned in several other comments. I have rotolocks on my Winmau Dual Core practice board as well as the old Blade 5 I have. Neither of those are as loud as the new Blade 6. Not even close. The new board is so soft that it makes this awful 'plunk' sound when a dart hits it. But it did cross my mind that it's the rotolocks and to an extent it is, but it didn't make that much of a difference. My practice board is very quiet with rotolocks

What about bounce-outs or fall-outs? We have an Aspar board and a Blade 6 board (double core) in my local pub, rotating between the two, as a group we've noticed there are more darts falling to the floor with the Aspar than we get with the Blade. It's like playing on wood sometimes! (both are better than Unicrap tho)
@WorldwideDarts
@WorldwideDarts 2 года назад
Hardly any bounce outs at all to be honest. I had a true point on wire bounce out on one of my recent videos. I think it was two videos ago in the intro. I forget what board it was though. I want to say the Target. I also think if someone is using plain silver points on the firm Target board they might have a few fall outs. A quick scuff of the points with sandpaper will 100% fix that problem

I would say go for the One80 G3+ or even the new GOAT board at Dartshopper. The Blade 6 boards have been straight trash. Beautiful and awesome straight out of the box but not so much a few weeks later. I've read some overall bad things about them. Here's the problem though... everyone will get a Blade 6 and praise how nice it is at first... which I agree with. So many of them fail to give updates and tell us how awful the board is a couple months later.

would like to hear your thoughts on the Blade 6 on the PDC tour vs the old Unicorn boards. I think the PDC tour shows that no matter what board you use that specialty points will destroy any dart board. Although I do feel like the Blade 6 is getting torn up by the pros, it's not as bad as the old Unicorns.
@WorldwideDarts

100% agree. I saw a match where James Wade darts were ripping up the board a bit. But like you said, the B6 does seem to be holding up better. Anything is better than a Unicorn board 😂

@drakeal Год назад
My Blade 6 TC is QUIET compared even to a Blade 5. I do throw a 21g dart but it was an immediate noticeable difference. Edit: I would be curious to see how a Decibel meter ranks the noise between the two boards. I also throw One80 conversion tips on my darts. They are a very thin point and do sink in well on ANY board. You're right about the Rotolock system, it is great! My main question however is about how well each one holds up after a few months of use. Are you noticing more holes that do not seem to be healing on one versus the other or are you seeing a lot more fibers pulling out on one more than the other?
@WorldwideDarts
@WorldwideDarts Год назад
A new board will always be much quieter compared to an old board that you've been using. The problem that myself and many others have seen is that after a few weeks the Blade 6 boards loosen up... a lot. I've tried all 3 versions of the Blade 6 and all of them have been way, way too soft. I've had my Blade 6 hanging up recently because I've been too lazy to switch it out but as far as durability the Target Aspar and the One80 are far superior.
@drakeal
@drakeal Год назад
@@WorldwideDarts I also understand that one batch may be different from the next. I haven't had any issues with mine loosening up or anything really. I did notice when going to a larger diameter point (factory from Red Dragon rather than my One80 conversion points) that I did seem to have a hard spot in the lower section of the double bull which caused a fair number of bounce outs. No, it wasn't the Wire as many would suggest. you could see where the point hit and they just bounced. When I do finally replace my Blade 6, I will look into the Aspar or Gladiator series as well. Thank you for your response and the reviews!

I currently have the winmau diamond plus MVG edition (got a good deal on the board and surround) and I found the board to be very loud also. My 19g darts go straight through it ! @WorldwideDarts
@WorldwideDarts Год назад
The Blade 6 TC is garbage! The other dart review channel backs it up with a recent video of his about boards. It's way, way too soft. And here's the thing... it loosens up even worse after a month of use and almost becomes unusable. I've tried all 3 new blade 6 boards and hate them. For home use I'd go with a Blade 5 regular version or Blade 5 Dual Core if you can still find them. If not I'd highly recommend the One80 G3+

@@WorldwideDarts Received the G3+ this afternoon ( i'm in the UK ) , I paid £46.99 gbp for it. Hung it pretty much straight away and had a few throws at it with the new 20g darts I also purchased. I didn't get much time with it though as I had to prepare and leave for work. First impressions are , its a hell of a lot quieter than the winmau i had and the darts only penetrate up to where the point starts to narrow so they aren't going straight through. Also has thinner wires with no staples unlike my current board so overall i'm am very pleased with my purchase and your recommendation. I will admit that I hadn't rotated my winmau for a while and I did this before the G3 came which did make the board a little quieter but the darts were still pretty much going straight through. You will always get a louder noise when using a blade board because of the rota lock leaves a small gap behind the board and wall so it will always amplify the thud as to the firm less personally would always go for a softer board much reducing fall outs especially if you don’t have a aggressive throw..

Those numbers on the aspar take the fun out of playing big uns and little uns, as you can't set a hole in the eight, or ten. Numbers are too small too. I put four washing-up foam pads behind the board, to keep it much quieter. I want points to go in, and stay in. So soft seems good. Got to be soft for people that have gentle throws, and light darts. Still, viper is listed on great boards under a 100 so I would think there would be someone would add it to compare to all the other boards. Internet drives a lot of customers to the viper products. Including viper boards I think will draw interest. First guy to do it should get the most views. And your evaluation videos are top notch. GLD does screw you if buying from their site as shipping charges are as much as the product. I have a dialogue with them now on their shipping charges. Told them that charge is sending me to competitors. Good thing is they are listening and asking me for more info. A good sign. But the Razorback is a good board. Winmau quality? Oh good. I was hoping others read some of the same things I saw about the B6. You made a good choice with the One80 board. I love those things

@@WorldwideDarts Yeah I love One80 as a brand in general you can’t go wrong with them.

For me the Triple Core is very very close to the Aspar. I am using it since it came out and play a lot, up to about 4 hours a day. It still looks great, sounds quiet and I overall like it. Not used the standard Blade 6 but I did use the Aspar and for me the Triple Core takes the W here.

Always found Winmaus to be soft. I throw hard too, but 23 grams eats away at them, anything heavier and the barrel is burying. Lol

I've only ever used dual core blades in all my years playing... the 6 is by far the worst edition yet for both durability and overall quality.... I'll be saving myself £20 and going back to the 5 dual on my next purchase!! 👍

Same here. I've always been a huge fan of the Winmau boards. So much so that I actually think I let my bias get in the way when I originally reviewed the Blade 6. I just expected it to be awesome with no questions asked. I was wrong. Blade 5's are quality though.

Personally, buying Target Aspar was the worst investment ever. It's been maybe 4 months and it looks wrecked. And I use smooth target storm points 🤷
@WorldwideDarts
@WorldwideDarts 2 года назад
Really? I don't see how that's possible unless you're playing about 5+ hours a day and not rotating it. Mine is about 5 months old now and it's still mint. I didn't play on it for 2 months but still.

@@WorldwideDarts I rotate regularly. That's why I keep looking at the state of your board and can't believe it. I had a Blade 5 for a year and looked better than Aspar. I've no idea mate

@@boristheblade4052 Strange one for sure. Who knows, maybe you just got a bad board? Sort of like my Winmau. I just think I got a poor board because I've never known a Winmau to be THIS soft. I'm also surprised because smooth Storm points are normally very, very gentle on any dart board.

firm simply means bad deflections don't grab the board...I don't see the allure of a hard board.
@WorldwideDarts
@WorldwideDarts Год назад
They last longer. The darts don't sink in all the way to the barrel allowing for tighter groups. But everyone is different. If you have a weak throw then maybe a softer board is better

@@WorldwideDarts clearly the unicorn boards do not last at all and any i have played on were rock hard...I do throw light darts and not all that hard but even watching the pro's play on the harder boards vs. the blade board...the amount of deflections still grabbing the board on Blade boards is clearly higher...the preference is always going to be to each his own but the benefits of one over the other is clear. I've heard people comment the gladiator III + is a hard board...mine was not and I'm going on 4 yrs with it now and likely get a couple more before I replace it

I hear ya. The rotolock feature is important for me. I LOVE that feature. I always gave the edge to Winmau over the One80 because of the rotolock

Sorry to hear about your crappy board but at the same time I'm also glad that I'm not the only one experiencing this. Seems like a lot of people are seeing the same things we're seeing. Sucks to say that because I've always had great Winmau boards.

Yep, when we're throwing sharp pointy metal objects at a board there shouldn't be any plastic that we could potentially hit.

The darts seem to be burying deeper into the blade 6. Although I am a little stoned… 😝
