I bought the same model a number of years ago for around $12 but it would frequently stop. I set it away rather than return it. I have been interested in watch repair lately and I have some watch repair tools so I took this watch out and disassembled it. The watch face attaches to the movement by two tiny lugs but the screw holes in the movement did not have any screws to tighten down onto the lugs. The screw holes were not even threaded. Somehow this caused the movement to jam up (hour hand rubbing against the face?). I put a drop of crazy glue on each lug and glued it to the movement. The watch then started to work fine. I put the watch in a timegrapher and it appeared to be very accurate. The crystal appears to be made of actual glass (not plastic). I don't remember what I did with the original band (I think it cracked and broke) so I ordered a replacement.
I bought this watch with the black dial and it performed flawlessly for six months so I purchased another with the white dial and absolutely love them. I didn’t even try the watch band I swapped it out immediately with a nice quality leather band. I would definitely recommend this watch. Nice video.
A very solid review. Thank you for making it and for answering questions in the comments; in some cases questions that were asked years after you posted this video. On one hand $25, which is what they're going for now, isn't a lot to pay for a mechanical watch. On the other hand, $25 is $25 and I don't want to just throw it away if I don't have to. This video was very helpful to me in realizing that these are legitimately pretty decent.
The Casio Duro silicone band fits. I have the black dial version, the black band makes it looks more classy contemporary and much more comfortable. For the price, I paid $16.25 shipped, is an excellent watch. Remember, to set the time is first pull, time is second pull. Update (13JULY): the watch is off by about 15min every hr. It is now gathering dust in my parts bin.
I have found that all of these watches, Winner, Jaragar, Tevise, etc., keep decent time, however the rotors do not spin freely enough to wind the watch. If you don't mind hand winding then they are ok. This is a common fault of these cheap watches.
Yup, I'm experiencing that with a Gute (Jaragar) homage that I received. I opened it up and put some gun oil on the rotor to see if that helps when its in my watch winding box, but it looks like it still stops even with 2000 Turns Per Day in the box. I guess that's just the trade off for the low price point...
firstly can i say i,m pleased you posted this & in english as i have 5#date window model and was pleasantly surprised, looks more than the 12 quid i paid for it,yeah the straps cheap n nasty but does the job,i swapped it out for a perlon & nato (looks the part),the self wind isn't that great so you may get a day surface sat if you're lucky but i generally wind it daily anyhow as i actually really like for what it costs & time keeping is reasonable avg; +10-15 sec ish a day, water resistance is not good iv'e tried it at work under a tap so no shower! possible light hand washing with care, case size is 41.5-42mm and wears quite well. i would say perhaps not such a good idea to wind the watch around its date changing time but hey it survived & its not like yr breaking the bank if you kill it,
winner makes beautiful watches, everyone I owned crapped out on me not even a year.one the roter came off and another you can see a fingerprint on the rotor.they make gorgeous watches but they don't seem to care about the inner workings to make it last a long time.
I have a black one and this white one.. yes their around $18.00.. they make great work watches. I’m in construction and both have held up well. If it’s not being worn and just sitting there, they will loose time and EVENTUALLY JUST STOP,, after about 2-3 days of not winding it. Other then that I like both mine..
Bought it recently. The white dial is beautiful but strap looks very cheap so changed it right away. Case is stainless steel. Movement is not accurate with mineral glass. Getting around 5+ sec everyday. The hands are small. Overall very good value for money.
Recently brought 4 black seiko diver for 30 bucks like a piece- about 20usd, but it's league's ahead in terms of materials, build, construction and quality compared to the $550 seiko divers I admired through windows as a kid, got 3 for my nephew's, I always had a thing for watches, I would have wet my pants and screamed like a girl if someone had of given me one of these as kid.
David Schwartz Hey, you’re welcome! It does still function though one of the strap pins(the metal bar that holds the strap on the watch, I don’t know what it’s called) broke so I haven’t worn it in a while.
@@WilliamEwart Ah, yeah the spring bar. I'd imagine that can happen pretty often with these lower cost watches. I got a repair kit on amazon (affiliate link: amzn.to/2Z0Kc4h) that had all the tools to replace straps and whatnot a while back because I got tired of paying a jeweler lol. That kit came with a bunch of different sized spring bars and has saved me from the few I've lost/broke in the past. If you decide to replace that and wear it again I'd look forward to an update video sometime! Just subbed! Dave
I have two: a quartz drive with PU strap which is going well,. And an automatic which refuses to run for more than a few hours & which cannot be wound manually. The seller refunded the price AS I had lost confidence in the watch.. Since I have seen many adverse comments about this watch. It looks good but you will be lucky to see it run for long.
I bought the same watch and unfortunately I can't or I don't correctly know how to set the time. The crown only pops out once to set the day. Could you tell me how you did it?
3:01 replacing the strap : just do it yourself with a "aliexpress watch strap". ... about 3$ (but in fact less) or a good quality one i had 2/3 more issues (time adjustment, the 2 winding screw loose for the winding mechanical movement) that could be fixed with a set of very small screwdrivers (3/4$ from ali, even less with a new account), an opening tool (cheap), and a magnifying glass (2/3$)
i was left to buy a vintage watch or new but cheap like this... i like watches. was using rado diastar, it broke somehow. so now im searching for replacement. hows the watch doing today? still running?
This is an excellent working and a great quality watch!!!!!! Winner is is a top brand seller from china! buy them on ebay or amazon , but do avoid buying one on wish!!!!!!!!!!! wish sells a lot of replica crap type watches .
Voxguitarsrock It actually does a great job at self winding. If I wear it at least every other day I don’t have to wind it at all. Not to say that I don’t occasionally wind it a bit throughout the day, but I have left it for days and it’s never even slowed down.
Suleiman Daniel it does. Though, I bought another Winner watch from a different seller and it came with some pieces lose on the face which I was able to fix. But be aware that the quality of watch can very from seller to seller.
I bought one about a year ago, just to see the quality. After a few months, winding it became very difficult. Now after a year it is near impossible to wind and the crown is near impossible to pull out to set the time. It feels ready to break. I’m glad I bought it though, I want to use it to practice taking it apart before I try that with any of my more expensive watches. I’d like to learn how to replace a crystal, change a face and/or hands. I will use this watch to practice that. For a little more, but a Casio Duro (quartz $50) or an Invicta Pro diver (automatic $50). Or if you want a dress watch, buy an Orient Bambino for $100’ish.
