I hate it. This is why Mickey needs to stay in Disneys hands or childhoods will be ruined everywhere. Imagine a lil kid searching up winnie the pooh and finds this nightmare fuel.

I agree, this is madness. I mean I can't say anything because it's public domain but it will inevitably ruin Winnie the pooh's original image and this is just the beginning. I bet that Disney is so pissed off by this and are already trying to figure out a way to reobtain the ownership.

It’s an interesting take on Winnie the Pooh to say the least, but I actually wanna go and see it for myself. Hopefully, it won’t be like the Banana Splits Movie to where it’s just.. eh..

@@trytoo5167 yeah, that is the worst decision they make to use our favorite Winnie-the-Pooh into a horror movie. Same thing with the banana splits Made by the Warner bros and put it on video, which is awful.

@@trytoo5167 I disagree. Many Disney movies have well outshined their, often disturbing, source material. Disney's version of Winnie the Pooh will remain far more popular than this version. Same with Mickey Mouse. All works need to go into the Public Domain eventually, as that allows future generations to grow these characters creatively and give us many more great stories to come. Hell, Disney wouldn't even exist without Public Domain.

Also, remember that things like this are happening to our favorite characters and franchises for years, not only it's often legal thanks to parody falling under fair use, South Park and Family Guy are getting away with it for decades, but there are times where the copyright holder allowed things like this like The Banana Splits Movie.

Yup i forgot the authors name but before disney we actually had darker darker stories of these characters like cinderella the three sisters had to severe their feet for the shoe to fit its darker than these washed disney adaptations

@@adansantos4456 Plus, Disney taking public domain characters and making them lighter and softer is OK, but other people taking Disney's characters and making them darker and edgier is not OK. This movie will probably suck, but it will be self-aware, aiming for "So bad, it's good", the movie will be just a giant middle finger for Disney for messing with copyright laws, making two extentions and supporting things like SOPA and PIPA.

@@adansantos4456 Cinderella is a folk tale, no one knows the author, people like Charles Perrault and the Brothers Grimm often get credit but they just wrote some specific versions that are more famous.

@@silverdamascus2023 There should never be time limits on copyrights unless the copyright owner doesn't use the content they have the copyright on. If Disney wasn't using winnie the pooh for 3 decades and didn't sell his merchandise or didn't make his movies available for streaming or DVD then yes, by all means, release the character to the public and let someone else resurrect the character. But Disney hasn't buried this character so other people shouldn't be allowed to use the 50+ years of marketing and the 10s of billions of dollars of marketing dollars Disney has been responsible for to profit off something they didn't have any hand in either creating OR making popular and marketable. Yes, Disney made billions off of these characters BUT THEY ALSO SPENT BILLIONS OF DOLLARS AND DECADES OF TIME MAKING THESE CHARACTERS POPULAR AND MARKETABLE. You're only looking at it from one side. You're not looking at the 100s of billions of dollars Disney has spent building these brands like Winnie the Pooh and building the Disney brand to be so beloved and popular that pretty much anything they create or release under their brand becomes iconic and/or highly profitable. Imagine spending 40 years and billions of dollars building a clothing brand and then in year 41 you no longer own that clothing brand and anyone who wants to use your brand can use it. How would you feel watching your brand get devalued to almost nothing while watching other people use your brand for inappropriate or unwanted things and making millions off of the brand you built all because you owned the business for 40 years so you're not allowed to own it any longer. You would not be ok with that. Whether or not Disney created some of their characters is irrelevant. They LEGALLY PURCHASED THE RIGHTS TO SOME OF THEIR CHARACTERS and then turned those characters into multi-billion dollar brands that are some of the most iconic characters in literature or cinematic history. They had to invest BILLIONS to buy these characters and make these characters iconic. I do not see any reason why they should lose their rights to these characters that they have spent 50+ years and 100S OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS CREATING, POPULARIZING OR BOTH. In short... where would Winnie the Pooh or Cinderella be without Disney? They'd just be old fairy tales that faded away into obscurity or old books that nobody reads anymore. Even if Disney didn't create these characters, they made those characters iconic and something worthy of being profitable and relevant for nearly a century. These characters ONLY still matter because of Disney. They invested billions into building these characters into global brands... what has anyone who uses the Winnie the Pooh character invested now? Nothing. They can just take the brand Disney built, and profit off it. They don't have to buy the Winnie the Pooh character, create a platform to market that Winnie the Pooh characters and then build that chstacter into a global brand... all that is already done for them by Disney.

As for Kanga, Roo, Owl, and Rabbit…I’m not sure how they’ll be introduced. Possibly a cameo, post credit scene, or they are in the movie and the filmmakers just left them out of pictures. That or they only had the budget to make only Pooh and Piglet costume.

Disney didn't make Winnie the Pooh. It was created by A.A. Milne in the 1920s. Disney's VERSION of Winnie the Pooh is still protected by copyright. Winnie the Pooh, as a character and a story, however, are in public domain as of this year, just the same as Cinderella, Snow White, Little Mermaid, and other classics like that.
