Ah yes... Starting the Thunderball Draw after winning a country house weekend away. Not a bad way to spend Saturday 22nd July 2000. Have you had any other experiences of Game Shows, Lottery or otherwise?
It was such a good day Adam. There was a free bar after the show and they put me up in a nice hotel as it was too late to travel back that evening. I did get the bug to try to get on other shows but have never managed it since. It was just a good experience to see how they make a tv show and a nice memory to have.
You were very unlucky that day. I only answered 2 questions to get to the final. The one about St Swithans day to get into the six and the Cilla Black date. I did have a good run in the final, 20 answers with 2 pitstops. By the way E20 postcode became the postcode for the London Olympic site.
The Saturday before the quiz show was 15th July, St Swithans Day. My nephew William, was with us. I said something about the weather and St Swithan and I had to explain it to him. Lucky break 1 but I didn’t know it at the time. You get a chance for the quiz show if the last six digits of your phone number in any order come up on the previous week’s show. Later when I was watching the show and 1, 2, 5 and 7 came up and I thought there was no chance that an 8 would come up twice but they did. Lucky break 2. I was trying to ring in and failing. Got through in the end. Had to answer a simple multiple choice question, what is the capital of Spain? Qualified. Following Saturday we had to go Fountain Studios near Wembley. The show was recorded up to where I won. I don’t know if you realised but I only answered two questions to get to the final. Lucky break 3.
@@tedhiggins202 So... If the show was recorded up to where you won, where did the National Lottery Draw come in? Was it done while the recorded stuff went out at the same time? If it was, I guess it was probably the same with the Thunderball Draw.
Well done, Ted! You seemed to have quite the game. Hopefully your holiday was a good one. This show actually made its way across the pond to America briefly in 2000. Because "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" was so popular at the time, they had the top prize be $1,000,000. The presenter of the show was TV veteran Dick Clark, who was known for hosting "American Bandstand", the game show "Pyramid", and the annual "New Year's Rockin' Eve" in New York. Unfortunately with this show, only ten episodes aired on CBS before being cancelled, with an additional one left unaired.
@@alex-xz2dm Exactly! Because Phillip Schofield Replaced Him In The Next Series And A New Running Time To 45 Minutes So That Lottery Extra Will Be Shown For The First Time But It Would Have The Same Music And The Same Rounds
I am so glad to see the lottery draws on Winning Lines during Simon Mayo's run. :) I never got a chance to see them when I was little! lol But I know that the lottery studio had a slightly different design on the Winning Lines set, and I wanted to see what it looked like prior to 2001...
@Leeswinburn Well done ted higgins you have done really really well and you have 20 correct answers on the wonderwall on the national lottery winning lines and me and the guys are very impressed with you and it's my favourite tv show of all time and simon mayo is a good legend and a great host and presenter and he began in 1999 and his last show was on saturday 22nd july 2000 thanks for posting this.
