I regularly represent clients presenting significant shoulder injuries arising from work injuries. Often my client will report feeling a “pop” in his or her shoulder while lifting, carrying or reaching overhead. Thereafter my client will tell me that he cannot lift his arm much past waist level.
As I discuss in this video, an industrial clinic doctor or even a general orthopedist is usually not the best choice for care of a shoulder injury. Your employer’s insurance company may not be happy about approving an MRI to confirm your diagnosis or paying for surgery, if necessary. They will also not relish the idea of paying out weekly (TTD) benefits to you while you recover from surgery and regain your strength.
