Thanks for providing this valuable information. For the benefit of fellow veterans: For years I denied my own depression because I misunderstood the condition. My Service Connection was for a skin problem, and when I told doctors I felt that my attacks were stress-related they insisted that was not possible. By the time I finally got diagnosed and started treatment, it took a DAV VSO emphatically urging me to get into psych care after I jumped on her about getting screwed over by VA. For the first time, someone explained that psych conditions are generally awarded benefits more than many physical disabilities. Far too many suffer because they fear stigma. Too many think negative things about help, but that is where we start. If - like me - you were told you cannot get Mental Health care at the VA if you are not Service Connected, please don't stop there. 🇺🇲
So, if I can show that my wife gave birth to a child that wasn't mine while I was in the Army, I can connect a current Depression diagnosis to that event? Birth Certificate Blood test Marriage and divorce certificate That's it? I'm good?
Just go see someone. I just started seeing my local Vet Center, also have a VA psychiatrist appointment soon. Also, if you can see a civilian psychiatrist, to confirm whatever VA might say. That is what I am going thru personally. I am not going to pay any for profit veteran service like someone mentioned va claims insider
Question for you...I had a recent C&P exam for Major Depression and the rater listed me with 4 symptoms from 30%, 3 symptoms from 50%, and 3 symptoms from 70%. I can't find a regulation to state how the VA will rate me but do they rate based on the range the majority of the symptoms fall in or the range the highest symptoms fall?
I have a question. When connecting Anxiety or Depression to Tinnitus as a Secondary claim do my Nexus letters and or Diagnosis need to be from a LCSWR or a Psychologist? All in all whats the best way to proceed? Like should I get the diagnosis then get a Nexus letter and file ?
Can my Blue Button Record be used as Evidence for a Claim, I've been in therapy for 2 years and I have been diagnosis in the report just learned about it and one of my brothers told me I should have claimed it I just didn't know I could till now
If you have a nexus and diagnosis with a dbq filed out correctly and uploaded. Why would a vsr schedule a c and p exam? Would you recommend denying the c and p exam and make the vsr rate 5he claim
