I lived in The Peg for 6 years. Its a nice little unique city. I lived downtown on Hargrave St., next to Donald and close to the Eaton Centre. This was a long time ago and the city has grown alot since. Im not sure if I could live anywhere else other than downtown though. I now live in Toronto. At the time I didn't want to leave Winnipeg, as I was in highschool. But now, I dont wanna leave Toronto! The weather is just too good here, by comparison. But I do visit Winnipeg from time to time and everytime im blown away by how slow everything feels. Lol, living in the big city will do that to you.
That building is a disgrace. Selected human rights. Just research 2022. What a sad joke of a city. Born and raised in the 80s when it was awesome. Thank God im in the bush now. Ive had the same truck windows for a decade now
Yah, there’s two things happening here. First, it’s where the shot was taken. It’s on the far side of the river and across the forks. There’s nothing tall in the forks, they’re all short buildings, more like a park with a couple small mall-like buildings. Between the angle, the trees and the distance, you aren’t going to see anything under 20 stories or so. The second thing: Winnipeg is a prairie city with absolutely no natural barriers. It grows out, not up. Despite not looking very big, it’s got a bigger population than the entire state of North Dakota, and more than double the population of Iceland. It’s a mid-sized urban centre, not overly big but definitely not small either. It hits a bit above its weight in terms of services due to how isolated it is (the closest bigger Canadian city is Edmonton, 1300km away)
If you live here no one can make the place look nice. After seeing this all I can think of is the strech of road from main and pritchard to main and higgins, the hoard of drivers that drive 20 below the speed limit, and the 2 magnificent seasons of cold as hell and construction T,T . You do make it look nice though.
I’m from the city and I would never drive the area you mentioned , everywhere has its bad parts, try mentioning river heights or grant park or linden woods or sage creek , would I never go downtown or to the north or west end if I didn’t need to never, and going over the bridge towards transcona is not as bad as you pretend it may be
@@jdiaz8819 thats a high traffic area not really a bad part of the city, it can be but you'd have to be dumb to go their at dead night by yourself for no reason. Also doesn't matter how nice the areas are you mentioned house prices have sky rocketed, and as of right now roads everywhere are decent but people still driving 20 below speed limit.... It took me an hour to get from lag/regent to lag/peguis yesterday so I swore just to drive perimeter from now on (suprise suprise people going 20 below their aswell....) Yeah the city is nice if your a child or jobless.....

I would say it’s nicer if you worked and could afford to own a house in a good area like some of the areas I mentioned and do you drive during rush hour, people going twenty under the speed limit isn’t the end of the world, I would rather know that the drivers are safer it is also winter conditions at the moment
@@jdiaz8819 90% of the well off to lets say semi rich people I know here are immigrants. They want to be rich but in the most racist/crime filled city's in Canada because its cheaper, its borderline a contradiction. All the super rich people I know don't want to be near the city and get homes far away from it. I'm an electrician, make a decent amount of money, and live in Amber trails, which is also nice place. I wanted to buy a nissan GTR recently but literally was absoluely destroyed in a conversation with a buddy of mine (You want a fast, low to the ground car in a city full of pot holes, constant construction, handicapped drivers, and winter?) The one dream that I could actually achieve was demolished....... This city is lame and If you're so called rich, and extravagent (kinda like what you want to be coming off as according to what your writing) and living in this city you have poor person mentality.
Show us the homeless encampment on Higgins Ave in Poute Douglas. Show us the homeless drug addicted people falling in the street on Logan. Show us the homelessness . Show us the bus shelters that have become low income housing. Let's stop pretending that Winnipeg is not broken.
