Knew all of those vessels very well as a boy growing up on the Red River across from Rainbow Stage. Was allowed to pilot the Lady Winnipeg under supervision, for a long period one day. Great memory!

OMG. Hi Carl, gosh man it’s good to kinda see you. It’s been many years sir. As matter of fact you had Subaru brats back then if I remember correctly. I hope you’re well and would love to at least chat one day. I have retired and we live at Wpg beach. I know you can’t remember who I am but we had mutual friends. Take care Jim D

I have been on the Rouge and the Princess. several times. Even for a high school grad in 1994. 3 nights. 1st was the ceremony. 2nd was on a cruise up and down the red during the late evening and early morning hours. I also remember a trip up to Old Upper Fort Gary via the Paddlewheel Princess . Fond memories. Maybe the elite moneybags of Winnipeg like The Richardons or Aspers could buy and restore them.

Sad to see them in this state. I've been on the River Rouge, and the Paddlewheel, but never the Lady Winnipeg. It'd be nice to see the River Rouge, and Lady somehow restored. Not sure what can be done about the Paddlewheel. :(

All in a sad state from they once were. High school grad in 73 included a cruise on the River Rouge. A year later a cruise to support the Winnipeg Zoo's Beastly Big Building with McLean and McLean and special guest Burton Cummings. Now just fond memories.

I remember being on all three ships and also being a crew member of the Lord Selkirk II. The best life memories were made there and I’ll never forget them! This was when Winnipeg was at its finest! It used to be such a great city with so much to do and see! The City of Winnipeg was instrumental in the closing of these vessels with their policies and regulations. It’s a crying ass shame! Lost forever. Just memories now.

Curious, but why doesn't the city offer bike and ferry zones to reduce the traffic pressure on Bishop and other pinch points? Similar concept in Vancouver, with their Sea Bus, making bridge travel less maddening?

vessel the size of lady Winnipeg could probably successful outside of the current covid circumstances. We are not ready yet for a bigger vessel till a river cruising culture is reborn for the rouge or new paddle wheel boats. Trips to either lower Fort Gary or Selkirk through the locks or game nights/days to the university stadium. Going on the boats was an event which dwindled and eventually died as it was taken for granted. I listen to people all the time say there's nothing to do in Winnipeg to be honest I think it's time for Winnipegers to rediscover our city.

Of the three, it looks like the only one that could make it back into service, but would probably need to be gutted. I was on it once in the 80s and the wood panelling interior was pretty dated. Of course, it’s up to the current owner as to what happens to it.

I'm rather surprised most of the windows of the Lady Winnipeg are still intact. People can be terrible. It's probably cost prohibitive, especially the Paddlewheel Princess, but it would be nice to see one or more get restored and put back on the water. Sometimes history is worth saving.

I'm not sure I can ever forgive my parents and grandparents for the state they've left this province in over such a short short period of time.

river rouge is a weird one for me I guess maybe 15yrs ago my bro in law's(wasn't at the time) company had been hired to do up some cabling for security cameras on it and helped with that ** I assume one of the last restore attempts
