David Singleton the sausage is cooked with many spices and stuff that isn’t good for our dogs. That’s why they have their own venison in the freezer at home or Matthew doesn’t season some of the meat when they go out.

Monti is a very handsome specimen for a male dog. I had a bitch pedigree tri colour, and was the love of my life. Sadly now diseased but I had 13 lovely years with her. She was devoted to me. I can see the bond you have with Monti and your other beauty, name escapes me. Sorry. Beautiful boy anyway. I love your videos and at 78years old, I would still love to do what you do! Love woods, forests, and open spaces alone with my dog of course. I lived opposite Epping Forest. At 5 I would wander in there , make hideyholes in trees, hide my goodies. Never ever encountered strangers or frightening experiences and loved every minute. Oh I would love to put that beloved memory before me now. So goodnight my nutty friend and one who would always put his beloved dogs first, no 1 for me. Xxx 🙏

I once built a similar type of thing on my backyard. We get shit tons of snow in the winter so it started as just me shoveling it to the other side of the yard to keep the other half snow-free but the pile kept growing and eventually I just dug a hole in there and set up some candles :D we had good time drinking inside that thing too

That's not actually American cheese. Real American cheese is a mild white cheese that tastes excellent. Land O' Lakes is brand I would recommend. You should be able to find it at any grocery deli. I think you would enjoy the flavor/texture much more than those processed cheese slices. Keep the great vids coming.

I never knew the name for this thing lol we just called them snow forts. Snow plows would come along and we just made forts by the mailbox when they inadvertently gave us piles of snow to work with. I just love being outside. It feel just, natural. I would love tons of subs, I love sharing my adventures. I am glad you are enjoying the content. I will eventually make a video of my evolution of camping but let me tell you, about 6 or 7 years ago, the way I camped was... laughable hahaha! I didn't have any nice gear and didn't know much about spending tons of time in the woods so it is definitely achievable. The best way is to start just getting out there. I am glad to have you along for the journey! Monty is such a good boy.

I know this has been a couple months since this was posted but I hope it shows up for you to see Matt.. you are the most entertaining wilderness survival channel out there. I love how you just laugh and joke about when situations get tough or don’t go as planned. And the love you show for your dogs is amazing. I take my two dogs out for weekend camping adventures also and I feel your pain with have “diva dogs”. Lol. Your sense of humour is awesome and matches mine. U can make those more stable with a candle. U heat the inside and let it get a bit meltey the remove the heat and let it freeze back up. Makes a nice sturdy roof and sides so there is less chance of collapse

You can also put all your gear in a pile, cover it in a tarp and shovel the snow over it. Then you dig an opening and pull your gear out leaving a cavity you can then expand. Saves time and effort. Alternatively you could have built it between those root balls and they could have formed part of your walls.

Love your dog!!! My first dog was a collie. And I love the care you show him!!! Yes, Monte is a very good dog. I like both shelters. A nice learning experience! Cool. I am in the south, so I use "Muttluks" dog booties to protect my dog's paws from hot streets and sidewalks. I don't know if the spelling is right, but I think they were originally made for dogs up north in snow. You might look into something like that or ask around to see if they, or something like them, would work in your situation.

Glad you like him! I don't use booties since they never stay on his feet. I don't mind applying the wax or dealing with the occasional snowball. He's been fine all season warmth wise so I probably will stick to wax.

Using a cooking pot to dig out the inside of a quinzee works great. Once the pot is full you have a nice metal edge for doing the walls.

I started by watching your newest videos, and could not believe how much food you make and eat. Then went back to watch your older videos, to see that you did the same. I understand the amount of energy you use to hike, prepare, cut wood, and to keep yourself warm takes alot of food energy aswell. I was a cook for many years for survival camping with the boy scouts, here in canada. Have you ever thought of bringing along a child, to teach.? It took me many years to realize that the childern I took out winter camping, were not actually complaining about winter camping, as they were bragging about winter camping.

I am glad I am able to teach something and glad you enjoy watching! I do love having my dogs there, not only are they fun to watch, I just love having them there with me. Monty is my main companion when it comes to camping. We have 2 dogs and basically when I take Monty on a long trip, Funk still has Rueger to keep her company. If I took them both she'd be all alone! Rueger's gotta keep her safe if I am not there to do it! ;)

I live in NH, about 2 hrs from the White Mountain National Forest. We take our snowshoes up there on 2"-4" of snow that's been packed by a snowcat for the first mile and it's awesome. Hiking up a hill on powder is a workout!!! Tomorrow, Feb 7 we're going to the Falling Waters Trail that summits Little Haystack Mt. 4800'. I would like to have a nice dog to take on trips but he couldn't live with me. My two cats would kill it. Happy Trails to you all.
