Super!!. Very Well explained, Aaron. Thank you. Also if you could help answer this , What if the wind direction is going to change later? Have you been caught up in situation where you had build a snow wall and later wind seems to be changing directions.
A bit off topic, but would you recommend a Keron 4 GT or Keron 3 GT for two people in winter? I am mulling buying the 3GT for mainly solo use with the option of taking someone else. I feel the 4GT is overkill for solo use but a lot more comfortable for two people, as there is more space to move around inside, store gear etc.
I use the Namatjj 2 for solo trekking. I wouldn't take my 4GT on a solo trip - way too heavy, even if the space was nice. For 2 people on a long polar journey, the 4GT had "just" enough room.
IMO, building walls is much easier than excavating what would have to be a huge pit for a tent. During a wind event, the packed snow would make breaking camp exceedingly difficult. The wind packed snow hardens, making excavation a big effort.
