great idea to have a summer house seating area... lots of planning for you to do ... so exciting to see your garden spring up again next year... lovely property!

My sister has 'Freckles'. For the past 2 years at least, it singularly failed to put on a show. it was planted at the base of a pear tree. Last year, after a miscommunication(?), I over-pruned (hacked?) the pear tree. This year, for some reason, 'Freckles' has bloomed in abundance. To every cloud, there's a silver lining. At least, that's my story. It strikes me that the blooms on 'Freckles' are very similar to the ones you showed for 'Lansdowne Gem'. The difference, from what I can see, is that the dotting on the inside of the 'Freckles' blooms seems much lighter than that on 'Lansdowne Gem', Anyway, good luck with your new plant.
Thank you for your comments. I agree that many of these winter clematis are very similar. I have bought different varieties so that I can compare growth patterns and flowering potential. One more that you may wish to consider is Jingle Bells. It is creamy white and can grow quite large. I find that mine puts on more leaf than flower, however
So glad to see you again. .Several puny shop plants stubbornly refuse to stay pruned; yesterday'Dr. Ruppel' still has a couple of flowers; the beautifully coloured Polish ones all do well. Deep freeze here N. of Kendal but good advice re pots. Thanks Ken
The Polish clematis are used to temperatures much lower than anything we get in Cumbria, so don’t worry about them. Have a lovely Christmas and thank you for your comments

Hi Ken it's Tina thank you for the vlog I've recently bought advent bells and already have winter beauty for my winter clematis as the advent bells is still fairly small I've repotted it and I'm keeping it in my cold greenhouse for the winter I'm thinking of keeping it in a pot for next year to grow it on or would it be better in the ground from next spring your help would be appreciated merry Christmas to you
Hi Tina, It depends on how big your Advent Bells plant is now as to whether you keep it in a pot next year or plant it in the ground. An alternative is to put it in a 10 litre pot which you will be able to leave in there for at least three years using canes for support. When it is in flower you can then put it near to a window so that you can see it from inside, and then put it out of sight when not in flower.Unless your plant is about the same size as the ones I have just bought and showed in the video I think that it would be too small to plant in the ground.
