The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express of 2nd February 2019 saw the unusual pairing of LNER B1 Class, 61306 Mayflower with SR Merchant Navy Class, 35018 British India Line. Filmed from Scotchman's Bridge, Tebay.
Thanks very much, Allan. I don't think a Winter CME is quite the same without snow on the ground and today we even had the bonus of an extra loco. Marvellous! Kind regards Frank.
Thanks for watching, Alan. There was indeed a lot of exhaust blowing my way but although it obscured most of the carriages, it smelt lovely so it wasn't all bad lol. Kind regards Frank
Brilliant video Frank. Great to capture a double header with snow as well. Fantastic. Glad to see you behind the camera again. Great to have you back. Kind regards C&A
Thanks very much for the kind words, C&A. Had to do my best to see the B1 in action and lovely wintry weather to go with it. Hope you're both well. Kind regards Frank
Thanks very much, Austin. Mayflower is my wife's favourite loco. We have a 35 mm slide of the two of them together taken at Carnforth steam town in 1975. The B1 looks just as good today as it looked back then. However .... lol. I'm not too bad at the moment thanks and hope all is well with you. Kind regards Frank
Thanks very much, Steve. I couldn't miss these two beauties. I think I might even have rekindled the bug again which means you might have to suffer even more of my efforts in the future lol. Kind regards Frank.
I was onboard that trip and having the B1 on the front was an extra special bonus indeed. Aswell as being my first trip over Shap & the S&C it was also the first time ever that id traveled behind a B1 on the mainline. This was also Mayflowers debut railtour working following it's overhaul too. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-t3Dzd7zoiXA.html
