russian animation is so underrated. they're like moving paintings. nothing compares to their technique.

This uses hand painted pieces of paper that are cut out and animated physically, combining stop-motion and graphic animation. These are placed in stacks on movable glass plates and photographed. Oil-on-glass was his preferred method earlier in life.
