Hi John & Audrey - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. Glad that the bar upgrade snags have all been sorted after some very fundamental manufacturing deficiencies that I imagine embarrassed the distributor. After you upgrade the indeed table the one area I would concentrate on if it was my machine is the log clamp, which is potentially a major safety issue as evidenced in this video. A couple of ideas have immediately sprung to mind. I have a Hakki Pilke Eagle that has a 700mm blade. Any movement of the log can result in the wood acting like brake pads and I've had cases where the blade is stopped instantaneously with a frightening thud and the engine dies. I accept the results with a bar and chain are less drastic but still are not desirable.
Hi John & Audrey - Big Rodders again. I did some research and discovered a firm in Co Cork that sells your machine under their name - Hartnett. It has a 20ton ram, 420cc 15 ton Loncin engine and comes with both 4 & 6 way knifes. It sells for $11388Can ex works and would be ideal for softwood thinnings that the Forestry Commision here sells. At my age an investment of this magnitude is not on the cards unfortunately. However, I marvel at and admire all your equipment. I used to process 180 cords a year with a vertical electrical splitter, 2 chainsaws, wheelbarrow and log tongs! I'm now down to 30 cords pa with the same equipment. Kind regards.
Thanks for your comment Big Rodders, we discovered that the firewood processor sells under may different names seem to be all made in China and shipped worldwide. For someone who is not doing heavy commercial the price range is ideal. Thanks again John and Audrey
So where are the 2021 firewood processing videos, must of done enough last year to last 2 years. If nothing else I'd call this some very good music to firewood by. ........
Happy New Years folks, great video, enjoyable to watch.. I'm curious what part of AB you guys are at? I'm near Slave Lake. I have a firewood business over here and I have the exact same processor, I use mine year round and believe me I've had my issues with it, nothing major just some cheap Chinese parts.. Anyway looks like you guys are having fun with yours.. I like the mods too. Hope to see more, thanks for sharing !
Thanks for the comment and Happy New year to you and all the best. We are actually in Quebec but did purchased the processor in Alberta. So far the processor has been working good will be interesting to discover the weak points and go from there. The modifications we made definitely help the operation of the machine. How long have you had yours?
Pure Canadian Lifestyle oh out East.. I just assumed Alberta for some reason lol right on that good to hear.. I've had mine since Last April and since then I've put about 180 cord through her... I have a small firewood Business and so far it's keeping up but I'm probably gonna go to a commercial one soon as I can afford it.. We'll see I guess lol
Manually pulling down on the chain bar was hard on the shoulder and arm after awhile that was our reason to upgrade to the hydraulic bar kit. The plunger is activated two ways, one of which is by a cable attached to the pivoting plate in which you can see on the video at 1.50 to 1.51 (you ca see it move and hear it click as it is activated) the second way the plunger is activated is on the operators side with a manual lever with allows the operator to engage or disengage the plunger or also called a ram. Hope this explanation is clear, if you have more question let us know. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for your comment, we did order the bar kit direct from Range Road and did make a series of 3 videos on the bar kit install. We do not use this machine for commercial use, however, with the new chainsaw bar kit modification we think it could handle some small commercial work.
Yes thank you been watching your processers asmbly videos they brilliant I'm getting a processers at the end of January very similar to yours mine is a dominator thanks Andy
Thanks for your comment, we are also from Quebec, we are looking into switching from the carpet infeed to the roller infeed (RR2520) waiting for details from Range Road for a quote right now. How long have you had your processor?
@@purecanadianlifestyle i bought it last summer and got the hydraulic blade kit in september 20. I'll have to make some more adjustments for fine tuning. It was not a easy job to fit in but had not to fit the cylinder arm as you did. I guess i got the new version of the kit.
