This week we are back in the garden lifting splitting & dividing the Hellebores to plant up into pots for the winter display in the Courtyard Garden #christmasrose #hellebores #winterflowers #helleborus #courtyardgarden
I bought 12 plugs my favourite plant , that and David Austin Roses . Adore how you use height and colours in your display. ❤ plus all the different brick , stones etc.
I have a literal carpet of hellebores on the north side of my house. They are the highlight of my garden in the winter when nothing else makes me smile!
I completely agree Janeen , so beautiful 🤠 & I can’t wait to see how theses look in there new pots this winter ❄️ have a wonderful week & all the best 🌱 Chip
Your fall garden turned out so nice. The stones are always a nice tough. Hellebores are so beautiful. I can't seem to keep them alive. Hostas and Hellebores don't like Texas summers. I have a neighbor a block away that has a yard full of Hellebores. Very jealous. Fortunately, for some reason, I was able to keep one hosta alive this summer and just recently divided it into three! You have inspired me to try Hellebores in pots too, now that the temperatures are below 97 degrees and we received a good rain yesterday. Thank the Gods! Let the fall planting begin!
Awww thank you Maria, so nice 🤠 you make me so envious of your Texas weather, but hearing your gardening problems I would probably have to change the way I garden , thinking on it 🤔 & yes! I’m willing to change 😆 I think I could manage change for the hot sun☀️☀️🥵😂 Have a wonderful week & happy fall planting 🪴 Chip
Thank you Richard 🤠 yes free plants is always a welcome result from the garden & now I get to enjoy the hellebores in the Courtyard 👍🏼🪴🪴 have a lovely day 🌱 Chip
Hi Joy , thank you & yes indeed the little red tree is a Loropetalum Chinese Black Pearl , it has dark foliage tinted purple all year round & has deep rose fringed spider like flowers , it’s been trimmed into a lollipop style tree & it’s overdue a trim (giggles) 🤠 all the best & have a wonderful week 🍂 Chip
@richardsmith9316 Cheers 🤠 let hope the weather stays reasonable so we can get more done in the garden before the winter shutdowns upon us lol ❄️🥶 I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a mild winter 👍🏼🍂 Chip
Hi Ruralangwin, the house did sell & just before we were ready to move the buyer pulled out unfortunately, so we tuck the house of the market for a while & it will be going back on next month, but all good as it’s given me more time to work on the Town house 👍🏼🤠 as it needed a lot more work done on it then we first thought 😂 so all good & hopefully we will get a buyer soon & be on are way 🎬 all the best & have a wonderful day 🌱 Chip
Hi Suzette, thanks you & for your message , no I don’t bring them indoors as most of my pots are terracotta and I just would not have the room, so I try to buy frost resistant ones, but that’s not always the case & every year I do loose a pot or two & if it’s not the frost that get them it’s the winds that will take a few 😂 so I’m always on the lookout for discount pots 👍🏼 Have a wonderful week & happy Autumn gardening 🍂 Chip
Hi Chips at 0.11 second we can see a small tree . Is that a photinia? Also many of my Hellebore are not flowering - planted two years ago. Any reason why?
Hi Chandi & thank you for your message , I don’t have a Photinia as yet but I must get one as they are beautiful, I think the small tree you can see is a Portuguese laurel , onto why your hellebores are not flowering it’s most likely to be that your hellebores are not getting enough winter sunshine, hellebores are shade loving plants but they do require some light to bloom , so a deep shaded area is not the best but prefer more dappled shade, check your area & let me know if that’s the problem 👍🏼 have a great day in the garden & all the best 🌱 Chip
Hi Krisgeringer & thank you for your questions, two reasons, the first is so I get to enjoy the hellebores winter blooms in the Courtyard as I will see them from my Kitchen window & the second is when I do eventually get around to moving to the Town house I can take the potted hellebores with me 🤠🪴🪴hope that answers your questions & have yourself a wonderful day 🌱 Chip
