"Elm Oyster" AKA Hypsizygus tessulatus is IMO one of the _best_ mushrooms on Earth! I've never seen it on Elms, but always find them growing out the scar (where a branch broke off) on Box Elder trees. It is a _very_ "meaty" _very_ firm mushroom, which has a nutty flavor when diced and sizzled in butter. PS: Years ago, I was sent on an assignment to photograph an apartment complex that was being built. While there, I found an oak tree ("Shaggy" Oak, I think) that had acorns that could be eaten raw! To this day I am still kicking myself for not having gathered some to plant. It's the ONLY time I've ever seen a tree of that type.

Birch Polypore and Turkey Tail are medicinal mushrooms, not food. They’re fine for tea or tincture, but are not tasty. Birch Polypore tastes more like aspirin. That said, they are fantastic medicinal mushrooms-worth looking into

Cat tail (pussy willow) root is good but digging them out of the frozen stream banks is a little tricky. Rose hips and goose berries are fine if you remember to wear gloves. Before the elm trees have all turned yellow, collecting the inner bark for tea is a treat.

Same with American persimmons (Diospyros virginiana), IF the critters have left any! The ones on the ground that look like round brownish balls are so sweet, once you get past the squishiness!

Oooh, I agree! Those can taste really bad. 🤢The smell of a squashed berry is usually a good indicator of its taste.

Also allein im deutschsprachigen RU-vid Bereich gitb's da schon so Einige.

I was thinking this will be good info especially in the days of rising grocery prices. I trust in the Lord Jesus so if we have to go through difficulties in the future, still I trust in the Lord that he will provide or multiply what we already have.

Lazy. You introduce multiple red berries in a row but give no identification characteristics… what’s with the roots and mushrooms lists too? Just lazy.
