I usually go for christmas traditional, but definitely lots of lights! I'm in New England so I feel your pain on the cold and darkness and foreverness of winter!!!!!
This is just the best! Love all your containers and can’t wait to try, and thank you for sharing where to buy supplies! I’ll be watching your tutorial many times to get ideas on making my own❤
You are so welcome! I found those a small local garden center near me. But I have one very much like it here. They are out of the large size but the smaller one still on stock. Hope this works for you!! amzn.to/3TfTQOK
Hi Dawn, I really appreciate you sharing your technique as well as all the different styles of containers. I think I have assembled my containers in a different way that it was more difficult!❄️❤️🇨🇦
Love your sense of design. I greatly appreciate you being specific on where you got your materials. Please continue that. I feel that so many content creators start well, then slack on details or state they will link and never do. I took a screen shot of your description which will make it easy for me to access when I go to buy. So, THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Thank you so much!! I try to put as much in the description as I can. Though sometimes I admit, I forget to add things and have to go back and add them after somebody asks! You’re welcome!! happy creating, and happy holidays.!
Thank you so much Dawn, I really really enjoyed watching you create those arrangements for your walk way. I really really love ❤❤❤❤ all of them, but, natural is going to be my favourite.
Lots of great ideas! I remember those long dark Wisconsin winters and your home must be a beacon of light and cheer. Also, this was perfect timing -- I am avoiding putting all the Thanksgiving stuff away to think about Christmas decorating.
Beautiful containers! I really like the classic red and green but the natural look is appealing too. Do you ever do longer rectangular shaped containers for winter? If so, how would you approach it? I have a long planter in front of my living room window and kind of struggle with the "centerpiece" idea since there is no clear center.
I have not done anything really long and rectangular but I have done a few rectangular pots and I pick the back center and still treat it like the center. However, in something in front of your window, you don’t necessarily have to have a center you could just put in all of your greens all the way around and then just fill in with berries and pinecones you don’t necessarily need to have that tall center area.
I found you just in time! Was going to do my containers today, but decided, nah, tomorrow will be better (yeah, with snow forecast for Twin Cities is good timing 😏). I'm a fan of the natural arrangements, but your elegant ones are drawing me in. They all look elegant! I "forage" for greens at our municipal yard waste facility. 😆
I just found you-and what beautiful pots you have created. I am going to do this. Questions: where did you find your little lights you have in the pots? Where did you purchase the metal circles in the pots? You mentioned where you purchased your large planters from...where is that? I just subscribed also. Looking forward to more....many thanks.
Welcome to my channel! I am so glad you’re here! The lights that plug-in are a twinkle type light that I used in the pots in the front of the house I purchased those from blains farm and fleet online. The ones that are in the natural planters by the greenhouse are battery operated ones. I have a link for both the battery operated lights, and that sphere or orb that you like. This link will actually take you to a page called Christmas ideas for gardeners. Scroll through that there’s not a lot but that’s where the lights in the orb are located. amzn.to/40TfmKQ
I love your designs. I have wanted something like those blingy ropes hanging in your windows of the greenhouse. Would you be willing to share where you got them. Thanks from another Wisconsinite.
I order some branches online and some at local garden centers. My favorite places for sprays are Stein Gardens, Hobby Lobby and Michael’s. I am always looking for the sprays whoever I go and pick up a few here and there as well. Happy Holidays to you!!
I have never had birds go after my berries in my containers. They are too busy eating the seeds in my prairie on my dried flower heads and the berries on my native bushes and trees. 😊
Hi Dawn, my preference is the natural style & select elements /colors that go right through the winter. Where do you purchase those gorgeous metal open spheres with finials, please? I just found you & happy to be a new subscriber. Looking forward to your content. Merry Christmas 😊🎉
Thank you. Yes those orbs have been SUPER popular and I had a link to them and they have all sold out I am afraid. I am looking for another source. So happy you are here and Merry Christmas to you!!
Where do you get artificial berries that aren’t Styrofoam? It says in your list below that you get a lot of things at hobby lobby. I’ve never found anything made of anything but Styrofoam at stores like that. I make a lot of arrangements for my outdoor planters and window boxes and I would love to have a Berry that holds up outdoors.
Agree those are hard to find. I just found some plastic white berries at Steins and some gold ones at Hobby Lobby this year. Where ever I go at any time of the year I am always looking for a good bunch of berries. Good ones are ridiculously hard to find. And when I do I buy them all!
For the lights you added - I’m struggling with this right now. Are these battery powered ones you’re using? Do you have to manually turn them on by going outside? I love the cordless look but I hate going outside to turn my container lights on!!
I used both. The ones in the front yard with all the twinkle were cluster lights, and those were plugged in to extension cords and then into the house. The ones in the urns by the greenhouse I use battery operated. I like the ones that require the D batteries because they seem to last longer. The ones I have came with a timer you turn the timer on at about the time you want the lights to come on, so say 5 PM. They will be on for 6 hours and then they automatically go off. The next evening they will come on at 5 PM again, etc. here is battery operated lights link. Good luck!! amzn.to/49PtBEz
Hi from Ontario Canada. Love all your ideas. Can you tell me where you got the spheres? Ive been looking here but havent see any. Do florists carry them?
Hello and welcome to my channel!! thanks so much for your nice comments. Yes those orbs…my favorite!! I found them at a local garden center by me. However I did find some very similar. They are out of the really large size but still have the smaller one in stock for now. amzn.to/3TfTQOK
Hello Dawn! New subscriber here. Thank you for all of the wonderful inspiration for this year’s holiday containers! Do you have any video(s) about how you got into the business and/or different ways to earn some income as a gardener? Would you mind sharing how much you would charge your clients for something like this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!
Hello and Welcome to my channel. So glad you are here!! It just started by accident. Someone saw the containers I did for my own yard and said I would pay you to do mine. That is how it started. Pricing is based on what you pay for your product that you are using and your time and design. You really have to feel that one out for your talents and your area of the country. You could also work at a garden center. I go to a garden center a lot and when I am there I am putting together different combos on my carts for clients, I OFTEN get asked for combination ideas, plant questions etc. I feel like every garden center should have people who can offer good ideas. Hope this helps. Good luck!!
We purchased our Greenhouse from Wisconsin in Greenhouse company. They sell and install greenhouses all over the United States. The greenhouse is made by BCGreenhouses out of British Columbia, Canada. I highly recommend both we absolutely love our greenhouse. If you scroll through all of my videos, I have a bunch a Videos on the green house, but here is the one that shows you what is all involved from groundbreaking to installation of the greenhouse. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9hF2ve284F8.htmlsi=wtHrAxFFFipBFPOa
They are called connectable cluster lights. I found them at blains farm and fleet but if you Google that you will find them all over. I used the warm white lights. www.farmandfleet.com/products/1316760-holiday-bright-lights-led-250-light-68-warm-white-cluster-light-set.html?blaintm_source=google&blaintm_medium=lia&setstore=&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI5Z3Y6q7fggMVxdvICh3GwwnvEAQYCCABEgKxePD_BwE
Sometimes I do when I have time. But since I work a full-time job, do client containers, try to grow my influencer page and spend time with my mom who is ill, I rarely have time to sit and watch anything sadly. But the premise of winter pots is pretty much the same. Gotta use greens some sort of thriller and filler. 😉
I purchased them at a local garden center a few years ago. But here is a link to ones that are very similar. I just love these spheres!! amzn.to/4a48Kx9
