You should not do that. Unless you have good knowlage about your houses ventilation.. which i guess its safe to assume that you dont if you walk around with a candle and stop every place with a draft. If you think the draft is too big or there is a place where you have an obvious amount of over-flowing air, or you just want to stop the draft. Then you might wanna check that with a educated consultant. That is what i do for a living, it is very good to look at thermal protection vs. thermal storage, where you want a good balance, and if you just clogg up the entire houses ventilation you will soon have problems with condensation, mould, damaged walls, lingering odours etc.. The absolute majority of buildings are not brand new, and still today this is a very common form of ventilation althought well funded new houses (and appartments ofc) will not use this ventilation. But the gaps under the doors are placed there intentionally, this is so that basically your ventilation works by the air in the building getting warm and less dense/expanding. It will raise upwards in the building and as it does, the volume that it displaces is filled with new air that basically "automatically sucked" in through these gaps at the bottoms. (english is not my native language so sorry about any spelling or gramatical errors :)

We use electric oil radiators ~ they make her home so warm that we have to turn the air conditioning on at the same time! Plus our animals can touch it and it doesn't burn them ~ I put my clothes on them ~ I get toasty and warm ~ I've even had plastic bags on them by accident and they haven't burnt! Idk if it's different but in the US, but in the UK it's sooooo expensive to use electric heating like space heaters and electric blankets. If you've got gas central heating you're probs better off using the thermostat to kick the heating up but adjust the radiators so rooms you don't use as often down low and keeping doors closed between rooms. Also making sure the thermostat is in a decent position in the house so it shuts the heater off appropriately.

In reference to the space heater make sure to buy one that heats the size of your room correctly. If your room is 10 by 20 don't get one that heats 10 by 10, the smaller one is cheaper but it will run twice as long to try to heat a larger room and in the long run cost you more

Bethany Lade I dry most of the thick clothes (jeans, jumpers, tracksuit bottoms etc) on the radiators, saves a lot on electric bills from not using the tumble dryer as much. But all that damp air needs to go somewhere, it usually finds the coldest wall or window so always make sure there's a window open to let the damp escape or you could end up with mould growth from all that condensation.

My bedroom is very cold because my mom doesn't want to use the heater. When she does use the heater she turns it all the way up to 80-85 degrees Fahrenheit. One time it was at 90 degrees and it was so hot. When she does this I have to open the window in my bedroom a little to counterbalance the heat from the heater. Its either 90 degrees in the house or just so cold it's probably 60-70 degrees (at least in my room). I can't go outside because my mom is threatening to kick me out. I'm looking for a job so I can leave asap.

I wouldn't recommend sealing the gap underneath your interior door's. They're there for ventilation purposes. Closing that gap can have a negative effect on your home ventilation depending on how your home is designed.

I wear a hat inside in the evenings, I use two terracotta pots with candles underneath to keep warm (I am child and pet free). I do use hotwater bottles and a sleeping bag in my bed. I use solar camping lanterns inside the house and motion sensor lights. You can use bubble wrap for windows. Also you can get portable solar generators though they are a bit expensive at the moment. You can also get portable candle lanterns that also heat the room and are much safer. It is ok to wear socks in bed. I have a shagpile carpet and it really helps keep the room warm, a cosy floor is nice

Don't heat rooms you're not using or use very little by closing vents or covering vents. Using an electric stove uses a LOT of power wattage so maybe a crock pot with water for humidity would save on electric usage or even getting a humidifier or oil dispenser (one that uses cheap candles instead of electricity. Good video !

Not heating rooms can be problematic because it draws moisture to the walls and stuff and grows black mould. I shut off the heating at night at my rental place (an old house that has not been renovated) to save $$ and I woke up to condensation on all the large windows. Even though i wiped them off the windows, there was still moisture in the walls that grew black mould :((

Keeping pooch warm over everyone else is most important and you covered it. If you have other heating means and using electricity for any part of it, the electric will be the most expensive in most areas. There are good news. Now if you are afraid of putting on a space heater due to the risk of fire or even tripping your breaker (which can lead to no central heat in your house if it runs on electricity), there is a HACK. There are electrically-run floor warmers I have in my home that act like space heaters. They are black, and they warm up to 120-130 degrees like your hand warmers, but the good news is this--these floor warmer mats I got only spurt out 1.2 amps, and cover a space of 1 1/2 feet by 2 3/4 feet. That means you can put two such floor warmers at a door or entryway that you open frequently during cold winters, and even if you plug both warmers into 2 outlet plugs on the same circuit, you never have to worry about getting a trip on your circuit breaker. Best to put these things on bare floors. Caution: Do not put these warmers on a carpet or area rug because the grilles could smolder the carpet or rug or worse if it is too warm. I also checked the cords for these floor warmers and fortunately, it is not too warm to the touch, because they do not give off too many amps to cause too much heat. This means much less risk of the cords or even the warmer assembly shorting out and causing a fire.

need socks. and if really cold, add house shoes / slippers. and cap/tobaggan. And even robe. Need window treatment layers.About four and use them according to light and weather. Need to reverse the ceiling fans pushing hot air down because the heated air rises. If u live in a hotter climate you will have these for other weather reasons already. Sand or rice snake works great if you dont have other supplies handy, for next to doors or on window seals and they stay in place because they have some weight to them.
