With the help of the cold winter temperatures we create a makeshift meat cooler to brine our moose roast in for homemade corned moose hash. Snow removal can become a chore during the winter months in Alaska but snowfall also means great riding, we head out for a snowmachine day trip and have some winter fun.
Our 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏 𝐀𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐚 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫 is available for purchase!

I Eric, sorry if I misspelled your name. As for the snowblower shear bolts. You can buy Grade 2 bolts from a local hardware store or somewhere on the internet and achieve the same result. Little tip with your egg layers. During winter add some cayenne pepper in their feed and that will stimulate more egg laying. Chickens dont have heat receptors in their mouths so it want hurt them but like with humans when you eat enough cayenne pepper it gives you a warm feeling in your belly an other innards and that helps stimulate the laying
@PurtyPurple
@PurtyPurple 3 года назад
I heard that the reason peppers are spicy is to deter mammals while allowing birds to eat them and spread the seeds further. Of course, then humans came along...

Corning moose is great way when you don't have constant refrigeration or consistent electricity. It's a very simple process and one can corn all the tough cuts, no use wasting the good cuts on corned moose one will be boiling for a long time. It's a good way to preserve a large quantity so one can reduce the time processing a moose. A simple way to add flavor to the corned moose is take some sausage mix and toss it in the salt and then layer the meat and salt.

When I was in the Air Force (I'm retired now after serving 20 years) I was stationed in Anchorage for 7 years. It is such a beautiful state. I have to admit the winters were a little long for me, but I tried to keep myself busy. Who doesn't stay busy though with 4 kids and a full time job outside the home. LOL Now that my kids are adults and have their own children, they want to go back to Alaska and show their kids what it's like. If you ever get the chance to visit Alaska, I say, "Go For It." Make sure to carry mosquito repellant though. The state bird of Alaska is called, "the mosquito." I'm sure Eric and Arielle can attest to that. Love watching their channel. It brings back so many memories.

To save time and frozen fingers. With the sheer pins. Next time in town, get from the hardware store, a crap load of 3 or 4 inch bolts. Stick one on the hole next time you sheer one off, but instead of putting a nutt on, just bang it with a hammer to bend it from moving. Quick and easy.

Very enjoyable video (as usual). The "baggie in the wind" outtake immediately reminded me of an experience I had this past summer while vacationing / isolating at an oceanside property located in the OBX of NC. Long story short.. Davey Jones is sporting a cool camo ballcap after my having unsuccessfully chased after mine for about 100 yards along the surf's edge. Yes.. I was mugged by the wind and its' accomplice; the ocean. I suppose it's probably a noob mistake learned early on by residents and frequent beachgoers.. "keep a hand, or lanyard, or hoodie on your ballcap when it's windy, or turn it around so the bill doesn't act like a wind scoop...". Ah... live and learn, I guess... I only wish I'd been schooled by the wind before sacrificing my favorite cap to the elements...

Honda snowblower are the best, especially in freezing conditions. I owned two of them and they start with one pull most of the time.

We're at 32 degrees here in Ohio right now. Can't imagine what it is like up there. Stay warm guys!

Same in Kentucky! I always add different cities from around the US and the World to my weather app on my iPhone to keep track of the weather. Anchorage is one on the list as well as Moscow and other such places. Whenever I complain about the cold here, I look at the weather in those places and feel a lot better :D

@@cugglymonster lol I do the same except opposite. Checking weather in warm places and being jealous of them. Probably better to do what you are doing! :)

Hearing your shear pin woes I can totally sympathize. Had 14" of snow yesterday here in CT. Broke one of my shear pins and I think "aha" there's a bunch of spare ones I bought years ago. I find them, only 2, order some more of the exact same model number on eBay, go out to replace the pins and their the wrong flippin size! Thanks, Ariens!. Spent an hour blowing the snow with one side of the snow blower then 30 minutes digging the car out with a shovel to the point I could get on the main road and go to the farm equipment dealer and buy the correct actual shear pins. Funny, having the exact snow blower model isn't enough to figure out the exact pins to buy! You have to give them the blowers serial number too! Thanks yet again, Ariens! I bought 16 proper ones and the extra 16 I bought on eBay, well, I guess they're gonna go unused to remind me of my stupidity. Always measure first before buying!
