Thank you kindly, Mike! Wish I could have made the conference. Sounds like it was an awesome event. Hope your bees are doing great! God bless you and yours!
It's great to see you back! Hate to hear about the loss on your colonies but a few modifications as you say... and back on track. Either condensation, wind driven rain, or flooding gets a lot of folks. Don't fret much it happens!
Oh yes, good advice! So thankful to have 12 good colonies left after the hard winds and sideways rains. Gearing up for swarm season. The freebees God has provided the past two years are our best colonies by far. Have a few extra hardy, productive, yet gentle colonies picked out to split and graft from if everything goes as planned. Looking forward to spring. Thank ya'll so much for watching and commenting! God bless you and yours!
Thanks for the update Johnny. I'd check that joint around the top and also add some screened drain holes in the bottom. Are you going to try to catch swarms?
You're right, Philip. Definately some water coming in around top left side. I drilled some holes in the bottom. Will screen them and plan significant modifications on the entrances. Yes, gearing up for swarm season already. The feral colonies around here have been awesome. Darker and hardier than bees I've purchased in the past. Thanks so much for watching and for your great advice!
You're certainly right, Frank! I plan to remove the original entrance discs, which can't be totally closed in any position. Also will fill all of the original entrance holes, make only two entrance holes at a steep angle as you pointed out. Also, it needs some modification around the top seal. Thank you kindly for watching and commenting!
