I enjoy watching your how-to videos. You have a good verbal and visual way you explain each step. I never get lost or confused. I appreciate that. Your totally awesome and inspirational.
I love what you do, my grandmother was famous for making mukluks, I never got to see how she made them, yours are very different than the hard bottom fur ones but I hope to make my pair like yours, thank you.
Thank you for this. I have been making/wearing my own winter moccasins for the last 40+ years, and must say that your design is top notch ! We camped out last Feb, in minus 40 deg C and strong winds. The moccasin wearers were the only ones with warm feet :-]
Very helpful video! You certainly explained each step very well. Keep up the good work and keep sharing your knowledge with all of us who are looking for experienced people to help us along. Thanks!
This is one of the coolest mini series for making a pair. I was left with only one question though. You mention an insulation, and show a boot-form you've made for chilly weather which looks quite simple, stiff layers of some material held together with a Velcro tab -- what material is this and do you have a video for making these as well? Thanks again for the video And link to visit the shop as well. Dawn 2cornerSky
ARDU Biz I don't know where she got hers, or how she made them; but you can buy these. I absolutely love my soriel pot liners. Thank you for your comments. We do have a boot liner that we make ourselves out of wool blanket or duffel cloth. However we do not have a scanned copy of our pattern available at this time. You can find great patterns in the book: Snow Walkers Companion which is avaiable on our website here: lureofthenorth.com/product/literature/snow-walkers-companion/ Or if you would like to buy quality boot liners and moccasin supplies you can support us by purchasing one of our kits here: lureofthenorth.com/product/clothing/footwear/winter-moc-kits/ Thanks again!
Hi Sebatien, It completely depends on your insulation. The outer moccasin provides little to no warmth. If you wear 2 pairs of thick wool socks paired with a thick felted wool boot liner, with a felted insole, the average person will be good for most boreal forest temperatures. This kit will get you started. You would just need one more pair of socks. lureofthenorth.com/product/clothing/footwear/moccasin-insulation-kit/
Thank for the info. I still use my old sorel boot that i got since 20 years maybe. I was working at the ice rink outside in my neigborhood when i was younger and with only one pair of sock in those boot i never got my feet cold. I'm talking about some - 40 celcius without the wind !I don't get cold easily in general and i love those moccassin. The sensation in the snow with those shoud be special.....anyway...thank again for the info very appreciate it! ( sorry for my bad english not my first language lol )
