I was visiting a friend In Northern Alabama with a cabin in the foothills when I spotted it. Wild giant garlic was growing in the clay/sandy soil. We risked life and limb, due to Copperheads and harvested enough for two big braid if garlic. It was so good and almost sweet. Lasted me close to a year! Good luck with yours. Such fun! “Garlic goes in everything but Lemmon pie”, per my mother 💕

Aahhh ...such a lovely video. I have so many thoughts today. As the large group arrived on the island I was so happy. I saw the love and devotion all these individuals have for each other. It does my heart so much good. Caroline & Carol working together reminds me of the old days at my sister's ranch. Then all the work commenced with those strong, long-legged men digging in to add helpful hands. All those young ones learn the skills they will need in future years as they become the heads of the family. I also felt so much sadness & gratitude when those boats left the shore and headed back to the marina & their lives off the island. I remember those emotions too. I hated to leave the ranch to go back to the city where I earned a living for the present & future. I wish all of you happy wandering down south in the warmth for this winter.

My son and I absolutely loved meeting you and your wife in the parking lot the other day. My son still talks about it. We were driving on Friday to a swim meet out of town, and saw you guys at a stop....wanted to stop again and say hi.....but we were on a mission to get to our location in the Sault. Hi Caroline. Glad to see you are doing well. Miss your narration of the EFRT videos. Men it's all good and well now while you are young carrying the wood but keeping that up will someday it will lead to back problems. I know I grew up splitting wood to heat our homestead back in Ohio but now it's back problems on and off. Excellent video guys!!!!

Definitely feels like an end of season video. There are over half a dozen beaver dams on our boreal property that frequently burst, adding to the ebb and flow of the boreal forest and its uniqueness.

From what I have heard in B.C. when you plant garlic cloves like that, all you get is flowers and seed. the seed is needed to grow garlic.

Im new . Where is your cabin? Im assuming somewhere in canada, but that’s a big country…. Lol so pretty! I use to live year round on an island, cumberland island, Ga. No bridges, stores, no conveniences. Everything had to be barged or by our boat . I miss it dearly. It was a life estate for my husbands life. Back when it was made a national park, through eminent domain. Anyway- islands are very special places. So are its inhabitants.

I bought one of those Fiskar Mauls after watching Dan's video. It cuts through wood like a hot knife through butter. And wow, a lot of Y chromosomes in your family Pete. Poor Caroline! One last thing, put some backups to those rubber straps on that Yakima bike rack. My bike fell off on a busy highway in Dallas once. Bungee cord or something like that. I finally switched to a 1Up rack. Great video as usual.
