I just bought myself a 300 and a 400.. I already have a pair of summer bags and thought now I have each season covered off and will have spares for when I take my boy with me, personally I would rather be warm/ hot and unzip and use as a duvet than be too cold.. looked around allover and these were the best bang for the buck at £35 and £30 from go outdoors.. thanks for all the reviews mate much appreciated
Thanks for the review! Just bought the OEX 400 on the back of your videos. It's also really affordable (£41) compared to the Vengo Treklite 300 or 900 I was thinking about.
Got the red one for Son and used it myself in Dutch hooped bivvy in garden on very cold night a couple of weeks ago and was warm. I may get one myself and just use it as a quilt unzipped in warmer days. Very comfortable and more roomy than my van go and better zip.
English Woodsman. Love your channel thanks. Just for info, I've just bought the OEX Somnus EV600. It's excellent. 600 Fill Power and 600g of grey 70/30 hydrophobic down. £99 in Go. It will do as a bag or quilt with jam free zip. It will go to -1DegC and will suit 4 season with appropriate clothing. If you talk to OEX, could you let them know they're advertising it as 1.56kg. It's not. The weight is 1.15kg. Super bag.
I purchased a OEX 100 or equivalent about 4yrs ago. I went on to purchase a 200 and 400. I didn't get the 300 as I already had a Mountain Equipment Starlight 3 season. I started my collection with Deuter, and purchased a 1 season and 2 season when I was working in the Middle East. I've just purchased a Snugpak Navigator SQ based on the review's, apparently it's a 2/3 season. The good thing I discovered the OEX has the bottom padded to keep the feet warm, not always found on many sleeping bags.
Yeh, I've got the same one and it really was a bit of a game changer. Not convinced by the temp ratings, but that doesn't matter if you have a good mat and don't mind wearing clothes inside. The zip burst on mine last time I was out though, got it back running again but worried that it'll happen again. I was so careful with it too as it happened on my old bag and then continued to happen afterwards.
Thanks for this I found it really useful. I'm looking for a new 4 season sleeping bag and I'm thinking of getting the 400. I have a down bag and another synthetic bag at the moment, even though everyone says down is warmer I actually prefer the synthetic bag so I'm going to sell the fancy down one and replace it with synthetic.
I'm thinking of getting the 400 for all seasons and just lying on top if I get hot 🙂 or adjusting what I wear inside. Seen it for £55 so think that's a bargain?
I've got the older Evolution 400 and the Leviathon, both really good quality sleeping bags. Like you I also own many other OEX items including tents and their bivvy bag, all quality kit at an affordable price.
One of the most down to earth fellas I’ve watched on here keep up the good work mate I’m looking at getting my own channel up and running soon, any tips for talking to the camera etc.. I’m just a council estate lad and only thing I worry about is what my mates think etc.. altho I am still gonna do it that’s just one of the little worries I have about it.
Use the 200 at elevation from aprill through to october. Then double up x2 200s for winter. Even in Scottish winter up in the mountains they more then warm enough
Just got the 300 and 400 at a great price so sorted for any season. Did watch your 400 vid and don't like being too restricted in the bags. These ones are spot on !! 👍
Very nice bags, good value for money! They look pretty roomy, would you be able to run the summer bag inside the winter bag for extra winter insulation? Take care!
@PhreshFunk Very common for military sleeping bag system, outer bivy, winter bag and summer bag. Combine all for "artic" temperatures. I use an insulated bivy over my 3 season bag for below freezing temperature camping. Not much weight difference from getting an equaly rated winter bag.
Ive been using the 200 oex bag. I find it a little tight and im not the biggest of people. Got to say i love it thou, ive use mine even at start of winter in Nov and that pretty good for a summer bag.
@@englishwoodsman Awesome .. I was going get the OEX 900. Down bag , but thought the 300 will do great for 3 seasons , and if I do need full winter one then next winter I’ll get the down bag .. cheers great review , you have helped me .. cheers Chris & Sam
Evening mate. You will soon have more stock than OEX. 😂 If you like the stuff, fair enough. Nothing wrong with a bit of brand loyalty. I have just ordered a new bag myself. Regards JB.
nothing wrong with having a fav brand pal . i like certain brands aswell mate . most of my kit is alpkit .i like alpkit because its a good brand making a decent quality item at a reasonable price just like your oex .thats why we choose our brands ..thats what most folk want .good quality and reasonable price.? nothing wrong with that . dan . just because something is more expensive doesnt make it better .? im guessing these oex bags are synthetic at that price? . do oex not do down filled bags dan ? i would'nt bother with one season bag or a 2 season bag myself .the british weather is just too cold and its always bloody raining lol .i just use a quilt in summer but a 4 season sleep/bag for winter with a bivvy bag . but we all sleep different dan .i tend to feel the cold lol 😂atb kev
I would just buy the 400 and get a sleeping bag liner (it’s like a blanket) save’s carrying two sleeping bag’s to keep warm and if your carrying two sleeping bags it’s gonna make your bag heavier the whole thing about camping is carry light but sensible and good equipment
Having an argument about whether sleeping bags should be folded and put into bags or whether they should be stuffed into the stuff sacks? I stuff mine in. I find it easier and quicker.
Please no more OEX lol.do like your bushbox stove which still saving my pennies to buy.keep up your videos as they keep us all going during this bad time.have fun but please no more OEX.
