Getting the bees all tucked in for the winter, and do they have some honey to share?

Join Fy Nyth on social media - mewe.com/i/fynyth ! If you are new to my channel and Fy Nyth (Welsh for "My Nest") in general, welcome! I'm Ariel. Along with my husband Clay, our dogs, cats, bees, and some poultry, we live in a tiny house on wheels in the mountains of western Wyoming and are working on setting into our own new little homestead. I've been living this lifestyle since 2014 and my wonderful partner has joined me more recently. What will you find if you follow the channel and watch the videos?
Real life here. I try to show the good and the bad. The ups and the downs. What works, and what doesn't. The parts I love (most of it!), and the things that suck. Not just the showroom version of a tiny house, but everyday life in a tiny house. Not just the romantic idea of "homesteading" or off grid life, but the everyday details of this lifestyle. We split wood for heat, fill the water tank from a gravity fed spring, and attempt to grow as much of our own food as possible between the weather and wildlife here. I hope to help others learn from mistakes and make life just a little easier for anyone else interested in pursuing a similar lifestyle.
We live in a somewhat harsh and cold climate, but enjoy the stunning scenery and wildlife that we are surrounded by on a daily basis. You'll also see videos of the nature and wildlife around my home. If you are interested in my photography or purchasing a photo, I'd love if you follow that over at mewe.com/join/... or ArielCelestePhotography.zenfolio.com!

Never in life did I think I’d be interested in bee keeping but you have a way of teaching Ariel that every subject is so enjoyable. Thank you for sharing your gifts!

Every single video is something of great content…even if at the age of 79, I will never-not-ever have bees 🐝. But, that doesn’t mean this isn’t fascinating to my old brain👌🍯

Congratulations on your FIRST year as a successful beekeeper and maintaining active and healthy bee colonies! The best video of all and Ariel, you have many best videos. Can't wait to see the messy and tasty honey-processing video. All the best to you and Clay on your homestead.

I really love your content! When you’re outside the wind make sure microphone very noisy. I’m praying somebody gives you something that can stop that❣️❣️❣️

To avoid lifting frames out twice, how about marking its contents with a chalk marker on top as you go? And the smoker helps the bees "go down" when you need to squeeze.

Wow!!! I can’t believe those bees aren’t stinging through your clothes…I’ve worked with our cutter bees for pollination in our fields and always had to wear dark colors…I always wore a charcoal colored hoodie and dark jeans…I had the bee outfit that you are wearing and they stung through it…Be safe.

I don't know how out-of-order your videos are posted; but you did say your peas were still flowering, but the pods were freezing. That could be a major source for your bees. Also if there is any pine/juniper around they'll both have quite a bit of pollen available right as the heavy frosts start.

9:57 I wonder what happens in the spring. They probably moved to the top of the frame and when it becomes warm the quuen will start laying eggs at the top where the warm place. I wonder will them move down closer to the autumn? They will need to collect honey for the next winter so that they can go up again. Are they coming down and making honey at the top?

Did I hear chickens in this video? If so, you could have fed all your dead bees to your chickens. They love them and great protein for them :)

I really enjoyed seeing the different color of pollen--looked like little hexagonal stained glass windows made by bees. Pretty!

Did you exclude mice for the winter yet? Saw a sad Layens hive destroyed by a mouse over on Doug and Stacy.

Where are you guys at in Wyoming? I come up to Sheridan most years for antelope and would love to drop by and see your hives if you are close.

Bees would be much calmer if you had a smoker and used small puffs in the space when you open the lid. Then judiciously later if they become agitated. You can hear an angry one attacking the camera and quite a few on alert around your head.

Ariel you are a very generous videographer. Always taking the time to show us the purple pollen and the developing bees. I loved watching this and to see you speaking to the ladies. In Seattle we have had no rain for many weeks. We are still getting local sweet corn and green beans. We are still having 80 degree days. We have fires all around us. I have tasted/breathed in strong smoke for a long time. That smoky acrid taste is always in my mouth, like a flavor. There is particulate ash on everytrhing. That changes this weekend. It's supposed to be rainy, windy and glorious. I can't wait!!!!!!!

Chris Moore - I live in downtown Seattle. Because of my comorbidities and those of family members, I have continued to wear a mask whenever I leave my condo unit. A benefit of the mask is not smelling/tasting the smoke. However, I must inhale some as allergic reactions are triggered, i.e., infrequent coughing. The mask I use is a type of surgical mask that is pale orange (the blue one only minimally reduces smoke smell/taste). The orange mask filters more effectively in general, which is why I do not smell/taste the smoke. It is distributed to those who enter the Harborview Medical Center to replace blue surgical and cloth masks (K95 and N95 users are not given the orange mask).

@@wendyweaver8749 Hello Wendy! I live near Northgate. My neighbors car has so much smoke particlate dust on it, it appears to be white. You xould write your name in it. It's all supposed to go away wuth the rain/wind this weekend. Yay! I hope the smoky haze hasn't been too awful for you. Thank you for the mask info.
