Jari used to play guitar even in live concerts, but he thought his singing suffers a bit because he has to focus on both the guitar and singing at the same time. So they got another guitarist for the band, Asim Searah, who is a good friend of theirs. Now Jari can focus on his singing, and majority of what I've heard says that his live singing has improved. It is kinda sad we are not able to see the Jari playing sick guitar solos live anymore, but Teemu has godlike guitar skills also so he can perform the solos flawlessly.

A fun fact: it is a kind of joke that Jari uses certain words in the lyrics too often and one of them is "Time". Jari acknowledged that and there's not a single "time" mentioned in the forest seasons album :D

I was at that concert, they played directly after kreator late in the night on the third day of the festival so everybody was tired and just enjoing the music. Where i was standing there was plenty of headbanging, but you cant realy see that in this video.

The show was at the last day of a 4 days festival and it was raining. Everyone was exhausted due to a stressful, but fun festival. It was my 7th day on the campground and I can understand the crowd for not moshing the hell in front of the stage. It was just chilling and listening the beautiful music =)

I have the lyrics of the song tattooed in my forearm, and I remember that while I was getting the tattoo, this song was playing in the background as a request from me, this is still my favourite Wintersun song.

Once you are done all their released stuff, be sure to check out the unreleased "The Way of the Fire", which will be featured on Time 2. They have played it live a few times and you can find it on youtube.

Arvo Oh yeah, I recommended this a while back. I don't know what version is the best but they should go for the Hollywood concert version. That song just proves that Time II will be their most epic album.

A&P-REACTS I said you should react to the 70000 tonnes of Metal concert but you should go for the Multicam Hollywood concert instead, you get to see his guitar playing up close. Freaking amazing.

I was at this show and i was on others from wintersun and i can tell you: when you see them live its more like a experience. you watch them making music and your mouth opens wide and drops to the floor and lays there for the rest of the show. I stood at the second wavebreaker and we banged a lot and some people startet a small circle pit around als 4 guys banging the shit out of our head. Anywhere, i think the most of the people just enjoyed the show and the music because it was like a dream came true

+Grygal fair enough, like I said before I am judging based on what I see not knowing the dynamic of the day and at what time the band came on. I am just used to seeing far more energetic crowds in Toronto but then again it is at small venues not day long festivals.

#HeyGuys Happy Wintersunday! 😊 I wasn't at summer breeze this year but a friend of mine and he said that it was raining all day long and most of the people were just really exhausted. I think it was also the last day of the festival.

+WintersunExtras the studio version is far superior, you can really notice a lot of details that don't come through in the live video, but we really enjoyed seeing them play live...gave us a taste of Live Wintersun

BTW someone asked Teemu (their lead guitar) on FB if they are coming to NA this year, he answered no, but was hopeful for 2018. If you like Teemu on Facebook he usually answers if you have something you wanna know, he also uploads short BTS videos of every stop of their tour on his youtube page. There is plenty of good live stuff to keep Wintersunday going on. Teemu also plays in a coverband called Run for Cover they do classic rock from 70's and 80's, Iron Maiden, Van Halen etc. I have seen them live twice and they are incredible. I've been checking out this band for a while and need to say that this band sounds better live than in studio, while Jari (the singer) does most of the mixing thing and I don't like his style to mix the songs.. But this I my opinion. But gotta say this is one of my favorite bands.

I was at the festival and the concert started at midnight. And if you've listened to metal for 12 hours before, you'll be a bit tired at this time. And if you are tired and enthusiastic at the same time, you don't headbang anymore, you think only something like wow, this is sick. And Wintersun is for me more of a band that I listen to at home with headphones to enjoy all the details and it's not as party-suitable as Iron Maiden for example. And at 5:23, there's a clock at the side "0:23", which is the European writing for 12:23 am. :)

RU-vid pls... Blocks content in a country where that content is from... ;D Also, Jari no longer plays guitar in live shows, because he was unhappy with his singing during gigs. He left the lead guitars to Teemu, and then recruited a friend of theirs to play guitar #2. Now he can concentrate purely on singing instead of having to split his attention between guitar and singing. And you don't have to worry about running out of wintersun just yet, Jari also had a solo project from 1997 called "Immemorial", which he eventually refined into Wintersun.

+SerWarden the copyright stuff is not accurate. I for example can use Alison Hell video from Annihilator in Canada (they are Canadian) but Ruben on his channel in Holland couldn’t. So the copyright restrictions are all over the place with no rhyme or reason

You will see the same reaction of the crowd in other live shows as well. They really are just so amazed by the band and want to listen to every detail. They might swing a little or throw the hornes but thats about it. This comes from personal experience. XD

Equilibrium has fallen so bad. Terrible now. Only Turis Fratyr, Sagas and in part Rekreatur are quality albums. Erdentempel has a few good moments but mostly mediocre. The last two albums are absolute garbage.

I would say you're not missing much from the studio version. Wintersun is tight as hell live.

the reason why everyone wanted you to see the studio version was probably because the live versions of this song suffer, they have it tuned down and Jari really struggles with singing it (it's his hardest vocal performance after Loneliness), which you probably noticed in the studio version :P So a live version of any other song off the album would've been great, this one is the only one that (sort of) suffers for next week's song, keep in mind all vocals in it are done by Jari alone, there's no guest singer in the ending :)

About the "crowd" this was recorded during "Summer Breeze", a 3 day festival with a lot of bands from 10 AM to midnight. So you have to keep in mind this is a very mixed crowd with a lot of people who rate Wintersun "OK". Also after 3 days with a lot of music and almost no sleep you feel a little tired at the end ;)

Love Starchild, one of my favorite of the albums ! Jari says this is his magnum opus And the whole performance of the show was fantastic. Oh and yeah the crowd fucking sucks... Can't wait to see the reaction for In Flames, hope that be for the songs December Flower or Gyroscope

Jari played guitar on the original Wintersun - Wintersun album, he had to stop playing guitar live due to his back. After that they hired a new guitar player, and i believe Jari only sings on the new albums as well.

If you're going to react more Wintersun live stuff, consider using the Nummirock 2017 performance. It's not visually quite as pleasing as the summer breeze gig, but Jari's voice is perfect there.

wasn't there so I can't say for sure, but I know that Wintersun played their set after a very long day with Bands like Epica, Kreator and Eluveitie playing before them, so my guess would be that the crowd might have been a bit tired around midnight. And I know for a fact, that with Bands like Wintersun, I really enjoy listening to their music, but I'd never go crazy like I would with Powerwulf or Maiden or something like that. Just saying, because generally, german audiences are a big reason why most metal bands like coming over to us

No matter what, it's a shame if you can't watch the whole concert due to legal restrictions. We have a tv show called "Rockpalast" (Rock palace) that showed a lot of the sets from Summer Breeze, so there are videos from Amorphis, Wintersun, Amon Amarth, Kreator, Eluveitie and so on in tv quality to watch on youtube (here in Germany, that is)

I wouldn't say spoiled but rather blessed :) On the other hand, there are a lot of great bands from the U.S. and from what I get from the videos, Toronto isn't a place too shabby when it comes to metal concerts as well.

+Eluarelon all bands that tour in NA stop in Toronto that is for sure. We don’t have metal festivals but we have concerts weekly and several times a week. This year we have been to 12 concerts and we still have one more in 2 weeks, for 2018 we already have tickets for 6 shows

Mocking the crowd is the wrong way. They played in the middle of thr night, CoB had played before during a big thunderstorm and a shitton of rain. I was in the third row and was simply not able to headbang without slapping other people with my hair.

Yayyyy! Now you got two more amazing songs left on the album. It's a shame you had to use this particular video, because the sound is mixed very weird, and Jari was sick during the concert, but I'm not complaining :) Great reaction guys! What did you think of the album version of the song? :D

+Rebecca Hope We were divided, the album version is way better and we really are able to get more into it because it so clean, but we also enjoyed doing the live video because it gave us a chance to see them perform.

Cool. Yea, it is awesome seeing them live. Did you know that they used to perform a song off their unreleased Time 2? It's called "The way of the Fire" and there are a couple of videos on it on youtube where the sound is okay enough. It is so incredible. I honestly believe that with Time 2, the Time album as a whole will be just as good if not better than their debut album. It's such a shame what happened over the years with that album, having to split it into two halves and not being able to finish the second half, and the first half only being released as a compromised half finished product in Jari's mind. The most crazy stuff is supposed to be on Time 2 and we will have to wait until they have built the studio and for Jari to have made it in there for it to come out. But not too long of a wait in comparison to what we had to wait for with Time 1! haha. And there's going to be another crowdfunding album before that too. I find it so amazing that Jari put together The Forest Seasons album on a 0$ budget in his bedroom, pretty much. I simply can't wait until I get to hear what he's capable of producing with a proper studio setup and resources to do what he wants. And I'm sorry... whenever I speak about Wintersun, my posts just get so long lol... god damnit. Hope you're still having a wonderful sunday after being bored half to death by me. Ciao! :3

10:27 once you hear the live volume of music you wont be able to move :P (kind of kidding) ive been in 1 concert of them and with a few exceptions of riffs and breakdowns..I prefered to stop and just listen ,as quite the majority of the crowd.

A live version on RU-vid doesn't really give you the live feeling of Wintersun. They're much better live than on a mediocre quality RU-vid video. For RU-vid, you need to react to studio versions. WIntersun is top 3 best live bands out there, and RU-vid just doesn't cut it.

Winter is coming :) Get some quality light to make more videos during these short canadian days.. the chanel is growing, requests are more than you can make, so the solution is to make more videos! António, instead of being perfeccionist, be inovative, make dark videos :)

LMAO!!!! He has school and guitar lessons, we want to keep the channel fun and really a learning tool for him and me as well for a way to continue to build on our bond of listening to music together. We currently record 9 videos a week...that is good, anything more than that and it will lose the fun aspect and it will become a job. Neither of us wants that.

Before I even watch this, it's a bummer that the band was sick during that performance and it showed in Jari's voice, which was noticeably weaker than usual :/

Also, no Kai on drums. While I admire the fact that Rolf Pilve played the parts, Kai is an integral part of Wintersun. Without him, I find it just isn't the same band. Kai is a fucking legend.

Kai is a beast, but you honestly can not dismiss Rolf Pilve or Timo Häkkinen both great drummers. I saw Wintersun live a few months ago my only regret is that I was a bit too drunk :D awesome show though

For sure, but I mean, Kai's creativity is unmatched (at least in Finland lol) Like I said, I admire the fact that Rolf played the parts so well during this tour. Still, Kai's creativity and skill contributes a lot to the band.

It is, but with everything there's positives and negatives. I really do want him to play the guitar live, because no one can play the guitar with such emotion and perfection as he can. At the same time, he wanted to focus on his vocals to make them as good as he could live. Juggling such intense guitar work and difficult vocals is pretty damn demanding of him.
