"Overqualified" is the absolute most BS excuse anyone has ever given me. I will never understand how they can penalise you for bettering yourself. You can have ten degrees or no degrees, and still be perfect for a position - same goes the other way around. I know CA(SA)'s that can't do my job because they have no practical accounting work experience, only audit experience. I also know someone who has no degree, but worked his behind off to become a great accountant. A title or degree does not define whether someone is suitable for a position. I wish people would look at the person instead of a bunch of BS on a CV when they appoint people. OK, rant over (mostly 😂). Sending positive thoughts and keeping fingers crossed!
Love it and agree. It upsets me so much to hear no sorry you’re overqualified that I almost want to leave out a degree, like seriously, especially where you are invited for an interview, I’ve still been told that. You can see on my CV what qualifications I have, if I’m gonna be overqualified then don’t ask me to come for an interview. And same. A lot of CA’s I know are book smart. I.e. don’t ask them to do the practical work. Titles do not define you, how you treat people does. Okay, now my rant’s over. Thank you my friend.
