You need to first pull the wiper off the windshield...and then pull the tab out. This releases the tension around the spindle and the entire wiper arm comes off. When putting back on do the same in reverse....have the wiper arm in the "wiper off windshield position"...then put wiper arm onto the spindle, close the tab and then set the wiper arm (and blade) back onto the windshield. No banging with mallet needed. The trick is the position of the wiper arm in the "off windshield" first before opening or closing tab. The reason why is because when the wiper arm is down on the windshield it tightens around the spindle and loosens when in "off the windshield" position . In the video you have wiper arm in down position during removal and when putting back on which is why you were having problems getting off with pliers and then hitting it with mallet to put back on. Sorry but this is not the way to do this. Here are the steps...1) lift wiper blade off windshield 2) slide tab out 3) pull wiper arm off (still in the "wiper off windshield" position ) 4) readjust position of wiper arm on spindle OR replace with new wiper arm keeping wiper arm in the "off windshield position" 5) close tab 6) set wiper arm and wiper blade back onto windshield. 7) open cold beer and enjoy!
This will help me shortly. I have a leak underneath the panel that is leaking into the passenger side floor. I'm glad you had zip ties on there cause that tells me what to do if they won't fit back on right. Lol I HATE working on cars but need to all the time
