Part III:
ECEN5154 is a graduate level electromagnetic course with exclusive focus on antenna theory and practice. The class covers different aspects of antenna engineering, including:
· near and far field characterization of antenna performance;
· theory of operation / analysis methods / design procedure for certain antenna types (wire, printed, aperture, reflector,);
· theory, analysis and design of finite and infinite arrays;
· antennas for narrow/multi/broad-band operation;
· feeding techniques;
· numerical analysis methods for different antenna configurations

I'm studying for my ham radio exam and this video is really good! It learned me a lot and I'm sure this will benefit me on my exam. Thank you so much

This seems to be ECEN 5134, not 5154, and the instructor seems to be Al Gasiewski.. The lectures are given at U colorado, Boulder.. I'll kill for the complete set of these lectures. His are the neatest explanations I've ever seen..

Maxima and minima are plural terms. Not only that but the current plots don't look like a full breasted woman as you have drawn but rather sinewave curves.

See the updated video description for the links. RU-vid wouldn't let me post them in the comment box.

"Batteryless Battery"???? a. Small aluminum cones with an electrical wire running through the center of the cones, cones spaced apart (not touching I'm thinking) but end to end. b. Electromagnetic radiation energy in the atmosphere interacts with the aluminum cones. c. Jostled atoms and molecules in the cone eventually have some electrons try to get away from other electrons of which those electrons gather at the larger end of the cone, of which also creates an area of positive charge at the smaller end of the cone. d. The electron's in the wire are attracted to the positive end of the cone and the positive 'end' in the wire are attracted to the negatively charged end of the cone. e. Basically a 'battery' has been created inside the electrical wire itself, different areas of electrical potential. Basically a 'wire battery' or a 'batteryless battery', however one wanted to call it. f. Numerous cones placed end to end increases the number of 'batteries' in the wire. Then of course, one could take that generated dc electricity to split H2O into H2 and O2 of which could be burned or utilized in a hydrogen fuel cell to get the electricity back with a byproduct of basically pure water. Species need pure water too. With the increased cosmic radiation that is going to be impacting this Earth this century as well as possibly a mini-ice age, might as well put that cosmic radiation to work for us.

In the analogy with the transmission line, shouldn't the capacitive and resistive loss of the peeled wires portions be negligible the farther away from the splitting point? In other words, why is the analogy still standing?

Good question.... My intuition is that, in a perfect transmission line (ie, resistance=0), the oscillations will persist for very long even if no power is supplied as the energy will be stored in the transmission line capacitance and inductance and will leak out only very slowly.. But as soon as one end is peeled and bended (because there is no or very llittle L and C in that region now) the transmission line will start to radiate much more violently.. Now the oscillations will decay if power is not supplied via a battery...

I have a question, since this is open circuit system, it should be no current in the wire isn't it?

sir, I am new in antenna design I wanted to know, How to determine, Plot, Roughly estimate the radiation pattern of any antenna be it dipole antenna, mono-pole antenna, T antenna ,a square antenna,Helical antenna, loop antenna, a dish antenna and be it any type of antenna. I am facing problem in this topic, i tried to understand the radiation pattern a many times but each time i failed. please provide some information related to this topic. Thank you sir.
