That tip to cut the insulation along as it goes and keep removing until it gets inside the box - brilliant! I now have this problem, and any wire stripper can't go that deep and the cables are already in the wall like that, in double insulation.

Honestly spend the money and get a Klein stripper, you can do 14-2 and 12-2 like nothing. Also has a great grip for just simply cutting. Multi tool for stripping 12-3 if you're cautious. Your knife is handy for range wire and suite feeds but dont strip wire with an exact-o knife if you do t have to...

Ye…I tried it. Didn’t work. What type of NMC are you using that has such soft sheathing? I pull about 3 inches and it binds up. Real world scenario.
