We would like to thank you all for such an incredible response to this video! We are glad you like the NEW BOSS Headphones as much as we do, our brilliant team has put together a bit more information on this through the Andertons Blogs page. Let us know what you think, and if these are making it on your Christmas list ;) blog.andertons.co.uk/learn/boss-waza-air-headphones
Me and a mate once watched a band in a pub and we were the only ones there... The guitar player was sat on the front door step and the base player was leant against the bar. The singer was stood on the seats looking out of the window. They were actually pretty good and it was a good night.. But yeah, it actually does happen.
Imagine this with a VR system.. Gonna be playin at Wembley tonight.. Tomorrow, let's go to LA collesium ohhhhhh the possibilities.. And imagine being able to pair this with a different one so you and say your bassist friend can share the stage together.
Give them a few years. The tech exists...they just need to put it all together. As popular as Guitar Hero has been, what you’re proposing would quite possibly cause a rip in spacetime due to the overwhelming amount of awesome.
How would you see your guitar if you're wearing a VR headset though? They would have to incorporate a live camera to mix into the feed somehow, which would be tough to get to feel as natural as looking down at your guitar.
Well thats called consumerism. Do you need one? No. Do you want one? Yes. I have to admit, they look like something I want to try in shop, but they are kinda expensive.
Seems like u can play along with songs and record on phone which makes it easier to upload to RU-vid , so much easier then with all this computer programming
I was so skeptical of this review (and many others) - I finally decided to buy them only to find out they were sold out everywhere. I wound up buying them on eBay at a $100 over list. I am so happy I did - these are game-changers for me. To be able to leave the plug into my guitar all day, then pick it up, pop on the headphones and switch between 6 katana presets I recreated from my amp is amazing. Phone will reconnect too without issue for me (iPhone 7). I walk out to the patio with my phone, guitar and headphones on (NO CORDS) and jam. The convenience is amazing. Battery life is great and surround sound amazing. LOVE THEM. Get them if you can afford them
We truly live in a golden age of gear. For the longest I was looking for a product like this because I hate practicing at a loud volume because I’m so self conscious on how bad I sound sometimes but this solves this problem and then some I can’t wait to get my hands on a pair.
Not a guitarist? You can still enjoy this amazing bit of kit. Try this! Choose STATIC setting and crank up the AMBIENCE. Select your favourite album via Bluetooth. Pour beer and cigarette ash on the carpet. Hit play, close your eyes and take a deep breath: Feel the thrill of listening to an amazing band, live, in the most unsuitable venue imaginable, under the crushing weight of the compounded loneliness.
@@PJBonoVox This is more of a broke guitarist or bedroom guitarist toy than a studio tool so huge is relative. The real question is how long will they last? Are they designed to be thrown away when the battery dies? Will they be affordably repairable? Because my main listening speakers are speakers that were used as studio monitors in many studios in the 70's and 80's. Now almost 50 years later they are still incredible speakers and if I ever need to they can be repaired. How many years of use can one expect from these headphones? Because if the answer to that is less than 5 years then yes this is a huge price for the typical bedroom/broke guitarist. If the answer is they are designed to last and the batteries can be replaced then the price is high but also understandable.
Matthew Harmon not really, you use a teensy barometer, one that’s sensitive enough to be used for a few feet in change is about the same price as a gyro. Could cause some unintended weirdness if someone opens a door though.
i wish they had bluetooth connection pairing so 2 guitarists can feed each other at the same time and jam together. for now its the easiest way for solo practice the electric guitar...i hope this thing expands to more
Holy crap - not only is this the BEST use of positional processing in headphones, but you got ALL of that (backing tracks, headphones, Rob, room speakers, and recording) to play together with not one piece having any delay or fall off? *bows to your audio guy (and post 2010 technology)
Amazing review, guys. I bought my pair right away when the video first posted and just had them delivered. Now I’m having the very meta experience of watching the review again, but with these headphones on. It’s incredible. Keep up the great work. Big fan over in Vancouver Canada. Cheers.
They also need to have actual ambiance packages for each stage in the world, so if you wanted to feel like you are playing in Wembley, you could dial up the Wembley surround plug in.
Oooooohhhh! Or like, imagine if Garage Band was Real Garage Band and you could place the instruments in the physical space where you are. Apple’s already gotten really good with room analysis with the HomePod.
No, not with the current design. BlueTooth is a point to point connection. It's built into the protocol spec. One device (these headphones) can only ever connect with one other BT device (the guitar transmitter) at any given moment. Boss could theoretically have a 2nd bluetooth interface in the headphones to independently do headphone to headphone pairing and then they'd need additional circuitry in the headphones to blend the audio signals coming out of each of those independent BT circuits. They could also theoretically have the headphones pair with two different transmitters.. but the transmitters would also need to have two independent bluetooth circuits in them. Probably not worth the extra cost and extra complexity for an edge-use-case. They're marketing this as a personal practice 'amp'.
@@ffakr Actually the newer bluetooth 5.1 can connect to multiple devices. So in theory this could actually work if they've used 5.1 and not the older versions.
I’m not sure which was more surprising- the headphones or Chappers’ smooth, jazzy stylings! I thought it was the backing track until the camera switched and I saw his hands moving.
This is one of the greatest RU-vid channels for guitar lovers. This review and the product were a great way to start Sunday morning. Thank you Andertons family.
Boss hit a homerun. This is a very relevant device for a full personal guitar experience. The price is justified for the features but wish it were a tad less.
You guys are brightest pearls of internet !!! Massivly beautiful sense of humor ! Great product and YOU wonderful people !!! Love You and thank you for this !!!
They did a great job with this. Several old technology's used in a new fresh way. I hope they patented it otherwise you will have one of the Guitar Amp App creators doing a low end version using Google Glass etc..
so what? it's a great idea, so I'd love to see some competition and different implementations. there's room for variation, and the cost could be brought down.
The idea with the binaural microphone was pure genius. That was the moment, when I thought "I need those headphones." Mind you, I always watch RU-vid videos on my TV, using my Playstation and more often than not pretty good headphones as well. This gave me a really good idea of what the amp headphones can do. Great video. However, bad news for Boss: Slightly used smaller Katana amps might flood the market. I might sell mine.
I'd like a cheaper version of this, without the katana modeling and effect, that I can send whatever analog, multieffect, modeling rig I got and just use the ambience part. And it absolutely need a stereo line/phones out so you can record what you are playing (in the ambience you created) or send it to a mixer, an hi-fi, a portable speaker
Bloody hell, I bought my R8 Les Paul off Matt in GAK bkac in 2013. Top chap. Very, very helpful and was more interested in finding me the right guitar than getting me to buy the most expensive.
Looks interesting but I've been through the manual carefully and see nothing about replacement batteries. If Boss decided to go the Apple way of planned obsolescence with un-replaceable batteries like the Air Pods, meaning once the batteries are spent you throw the unit away, that would be a deal breaker. Please tell me the batteries are replaceable by the end user.
I know I've seen laptop batteries and other things die that way. But just for contrast....I have an original ipad mini that I use daily and often....since 2013. Battery performance is same as day 1. Your question is still valid though. I had a pair of AKG headphones that lasted 20 years. I wonder if these will do that.
We need to give a shout out to the camera & production crew...they are second to none! With Lee’s facial expressions and the disappearing mugs, they keep us entertained. Cheers guys, great work! 👍
Unless Lee planned for that exact thing, that's a good sign of honesty too: He thought the system was on, and didn't hesitate to say that it wasn't impressive. =)
Boss: And we will design them for people sitting in chairs, practicing! RND: Spinny chairs? Boss: Yeah, dude. Fuckin spinny chairs!! *8 months later* Rob: But, if I want to stand up... Boss: 😐
I‘ll buy this. Please be good... Nevermind, just heard the price...i‘m broke... Update: Holy shit, got them for Christmas! I can tell you guys, they‘re very cool! They sound awesome, but i wouldn‘t say that the amp-in-room-feature is that insane & authentic (but nice to have. if you dont move your head a lot, it works well). Personally, i don‘t mind, because this was never something that bothered me🤷♂️ Tldr: they‘re very good!
Hunter Caswell Also on the ship. I used to bring my acoustic down in front of #2 EDG space to practice. These would be miles better. Play in your rack most likely with an electric. Plenty enough background noise so no one else would hear.
Ordered a pair during work before even watching the video. Even more excited after watching. This product is like it was made spedifically for me. Can't wait to get.
I think they missed a big opportunity here... if the littletransmitter was a stereo jack, and you could turn off the amp modelling, this could have been the perfect monitoring system for everyone using a kemper, fractal, whatever... even for musical gigs where you have to use in ears
WOW... I was listening to this on my laptop … when Lee was turning the headphones round during the demo , I could hear the backing track and Rob's playing .. the sound was moving around .. hard to describe but awesome !
Watching this video really brought a smile to my face. It's like watching those vids of folks trying VR for the first time; their minds are BLOWN! I really wanna get these things.
Thanks for the comment, Glad you enjoyed the video! BOSS has developed an ultra Low latency with these headphones, using the same technology as their WL-20 wireless system it should be perfect for playing guitar through!
I just bought a pair of Boss Waza Air headphones just an hour ago and it’s going to be delivered to my home tomorrow. I tried it at a guitar shop a few days ago and I was blown away. Not only is the guitar tone near perfect, but the ambience feature on my backing tracks just floored me. It literally does feel as if the band is right behind you or to the left or right or in the front of you. It’s not a gimmick. It friggin works so well. And I only spent 20 minutes on it with the biggest grin on my face. Why didn’t I buy these headphones sooner??? They are far and away the very best guitar headphones on the market! Period! They are absolutely right about that it’s like you’ve got a beautiful Katana MKII amp strapped to your head. Yes they are that good. I’ve got a Katana MKII amp and these headphones are a dead ringer in tone, features and that awesome ambiance mode. I’ve got to hook it up to my pedal train and try it out. And when is a company like Occulus going to come up with a firmware upgrade that allows you to be in the same room as your favourite band while jamming away with them or at Wembley Stadium with 80000 people in front of you playing lead guitar while girls that are sitting on their boyfriends shoulders rip their tops off!!! Fuck yeah, I can see the potential for a real VR experience using these headphones.
