Amazing video quality, just what I was looking for in a review! Your mic is a little too sensitive, although nothing that can't be fixed just reducing the volume in post.
That battery compartment thing was just weird. How'd that get past the committees? What's the advantage of using a tiny keyboard like that vs a regular keyboard? Don't people usually do a "set and forget" thing with most Pi applications?
I can see how that battery compartment thing happened. Some engineer (or product manager) thought it'd be a cool feature and it got implemented. Then they realized no one used it and to cut costs quit putting in the connectors. Or perhaps they redesigned the PC board and didn't include that as a feature. But no one thought to update the manual. People use Pis for many different types of applications. Many that are more "maker" oriented may very well use them in a "set and forget" scenario. I've seen projects where they're Arduino replacements because people find them more approachable than an Arduino (or other microcontrollers) and I've seen others where they're used as the UI/communication gateway for microcontrollers that are closer to the real world interface. E.g. they can easily run a web server whereas a microcontroller would be hard pressed to do that job. Others, my Dad for example, use them as their primary computer in a dual monitor desktop type setup. Also, they're commonly used as a media gateway to stream video from a NAS to a big screen. So, if you have an application where you need a keyboard on a regular basis but don't need to do much data entry, these keyboards work great. Web browsing. Media control. That type of thing. My Dad wouldn't use it because he'd never want to do word processing on it. And someone that's in a "set and forget" situation would probably just remote into it over the network. It's more that middle ground where it's an occasional use, stand-alone application.
I just purchased the Rii i4 Mini Bluetooth Keyboard with Touchpad and there were no directions, how do you activate the touchpad so the pointer works? Can't find any videos or user guides online to help.
Which Keyboard Configuration did you select to get correct button mapping. I left at default 104 key International and some of the buttons do not map correctly?
Hmm, ok, what makes you say that? Do you have any documentation saying that? I see no evidence of it using bluetooth and most keyboards using the USB dongle are not. I'd expect it to be using the same technology as other wireless keyboards using USB dongles. Not saying you're wrong, just don't see any evidence for it.
