Wireless Mouse Stuttering - Sort Out The Signal

In my recent experience with this very annoying problem, it proved to be nothing more than an RF signal problem. Save yourself some time and make sure you eliminate that first.
I know this sounds very obvious (so don’t state that in the comments otherwise, I’ll just delete it 🙂), but it’s amazing how many posts and troubleshooting forums ignore this and jump straight to software and OS changes.
So try grabbing a USB extension cable to separate the dongle from your PC case and avoid any near-field interference.
If you're using a laptop this is much less likely to be a problem as the transmitter is much likely to be closer to the mouse (the receiver) so the received signal will generally get above the noise floor.
Let me know if the comments if this video helped you at all.

I was so frustrated my keyboard and mouse stop working after I rearranged my office. I changed battery and restarted my computer, I was ready to throw all out the window and order new set. I took a break and look up RU-vid to see if there’s any chance I can fix it. I came across your video and luckily I have an old cable on hand. THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Why isn't there a love button on RU-vid? This video deserves a love, not a like. It certainly worked for me just by moving the dongle to the other side of my laptop. Simple as that but I had never given it a thought until I saw this. It was definitely signal interference because I had plugged an HDMI to VGA adapter on that side. Thanks for the great advice.

The glass table is not helping, since the RF signal will have more trouble going trough it vs a wood table. Also, a aluminium computer case can degrade the signal from your dongles, so a extension is a must to keep them away. Don't get a USB hub made of aluminium, because you are keeping the dongle close to the problem. Just get a plastic hub.

I had this problem and nothing worked to fix it until I started holding the mouse closer to the dongle. It’s irritating but I think the reason why is because my local network has the 2.4 ghz band polluted by a lot of smart home device chatter (Nanoleaf is the biggest offender). I think the further away I was, the more signal interference I had.

I have a g pro wirless and this fucking stuttering issue fucked with me for a bit. Tried everything to fix it and I mean EVERYTHING. What I figured out was that the the 2.4ghz signals from my wifi router were fucking with g pro receiver. For anyone who hasn't solved their problem yet. Try keeping your router as far as possible from your g pro receiver. Also make sure you use your mouse with all wifi and bluetooth shit around you turned off to test if your problem is the same as mine. Maybe your problem is a logictech gaming software or polling rate etc related problem.

What's facts when it comes to NOT using peripherals like mouse (and wireless radio mice), BT-mice, keyboards, USB-microphones (like the Yeti), USB-midi keyboard etc in USB 3.1, 3.2 or the USB ports that gives a bit more power (to charge stutff). I moved some cables around to other usb-ports and started getting stutter with the mouse. The RF dongle is not located more than about 4 cm from the old port. Is this really a question of RF problem / distance to mouse? It feels more like the usb-ports are serial (?) and will interfere data from each other? If so, its really bad I guess... Having the Asus B450-F I dont have the absolutely fines motherboard, but getting stutter and lag just by switching ports...that feels a bit awkward. Thanks for the video, btw!

Thanks!🤜🤛 After playing with settings and drivers you convinced me to go get a usb extension cord. I've been having this issue on my logitech mk220. The mouse / keyboard would begin not responding for a second while youtube is playing with no issues. Yes that's the RF not the CPU or sort of memory issues. Also attached my dongle to an long usb cable to keep it close enough to the mouse and keyboard ... wireless tech 😅

i solved my problem connecting my dell monitor in a usb 2.0 port, i have a wireless mouse and headset from logitech, and both were with connection problems. This solved to me because the monitor is very close to my mouse and headset and there are no usb 3.0 devices near. So i think its a combination of the two thinsg, keep the device near to the dongle and uses usb 2.0 on them, i say because if i connect my monitor on a usb 3.0 the problem come back, so its not only a rf signal problem

Definitely RF interference for the most part, also the 2.4GHz signals, as well as bluetooth, on these wireless keyboards and mice is just as bad. I setup a mini PC behind my TV for gaming/streaming and immediately had connection problems on both devices, but mainly the keyboard. It would work about 2-3 feet away, but the keyboard I had to basically be right next to the TV. Finally connected it through the USB cable, and it worked but this defeats the purpose, and I'm not running a 20ft USB hanging from under my TV across the bedroom. I use a USB extension to charge different devices on my end table and decided to move the dongle for the keyboard out in front of the TV, and the issues went away. I then ordered 2 USB extensions I can secure to the bottom of the TV kind of like IR adapters. Hopefully this solves the issues entirely, but what a frustrating thing to find out after spending so much on the keyboard. It's a slim mechanical keyboard and works fantastic otherwise. They really need to start offering Beamforming for these devices as that would eliminate the interference with other devices. It's the same technology as a good router, so it's absolutely possible to implement. Your video is literally the only one that even describes the actual problem and happens to be the only solution I found that works. The internet is completely unhelpful otherwise.

I got wireless keyboard and mouse a year or two ago and it worked perfectly. A few months ago I built a new computer and it worked perfectly. In the last few days the mouse is as skittery as a newborn calf. It works fine for a while and then goes into meltdown, sometimes jumping several inches across the screen. I have a USB extension lead and tried it, no signal at all - but the extension cable works for pulling pics off my phone and connecting to my cycling gps tracker. I've tried cleaning the laser under the mouse, updating the driver (Win tells me it's OK), changing it's batteries, changing mouse mat, changing USB ports that the receiver plugs to in the rear of the computer. Unfortunately I don't have a spare USB port on the front. Still looking for what else I can change.
