I have the magnetic Mopeka sensors on my propane and main diesel tank. The speed of sound in diesel is different than propane, so i had to keep trying different false tank dimensions until the reading came out right. Works great after some trial and error and it sure is nice to keep track of all fluids right on the main Victron screen! First comment, but I've been watching for a few years. Thanks for all the great videos!
Yeah. Topeka sensors are awesome, but changing batteries can be a pain. For their water monitors I wish they had the option to hard wire 12v instead of batteries.
Hey, while you are getting Victron to add an alarm for the tank being full, maybe you can ask them to give us temperature parameters as well. The Mopeka sensors send temperature information but their app and the Victron system don't have any alarms set up with that information. Thanks for showing us how to connect them with the Victron system. I currently have ruuvi sensors for temperature readings but it would be nice to see if these could do both.
For sure! Yeah, we have a video coming up about ruuvi sensors; but that'd be nice to get a 2 for 1 kind of deal. I didn't realize this sensor sent temp data.
Thank you! Just ordered a Cerbo GX! Can you do a future video about networking the devices with VE. Smart Network and DVCC? Wondering what the use cases are for these.
I’ve been using the Mopeka Pro for a couple of months. I did need to enable ‘Continuous Scanning’ on the Bluetooth settings on the Cerbo or sometimes the sensor would disappear randomly. I don’t think it’s a Bluetooth radio range as I have an external Bluetooth dongle on the Cerbo to increase the range.
FYI I saw this video last week and ordered a water sensor to try on a Waterport. I've used the propane sensor for a few years. Long story short, don't bother. Whether because the plastic is too thick or the shallow indent on the bottom won't allow a tight seal, I can't get a proper reading from the sensor on the Weekender.
I don't have room for either a bottom mount or a top mount. So I am waiting for a side mount remote sensor other than the drill thru or stick ons that only give readings every 25%.
SeeLevel and SCAD both have stick on external side sensors for non-metallic tanks. Their resolution is far better than 25%. I believe one is every 8%. And one is based on height - something like 1” or 3/4” increments, so on a 15” tall tank, about 7% increments.
I have a 29 gallon wheel well tank and it's mounted on 1" (series 1010) extruded aluminum rails. Between the rails is 1" Foamular. I am thinking that I can just carve out a pocket in the foam to fit the Mopeka, if that's the direction I'll take. Is your tank mounted flat on the floor? Can you elevate it on anything that you can carve a pocket into?
@@kristinf4900 I was thinking I could cut a piece of plywood with a hole in it for the devise. Right now I check the water level the old-school way: by looking at the tank. 😝
Any idea if this works with the cerbo device inside an easysolarii-gx? i know it's a lighter version of cerbo, so just wondering if paired with an external BT dongle it would work just as you showcased it here. Thanks!
Are the Mopeka Pro sensor weatherproof? My tank is located under the vehicle and will potentially get wet and dusty. Couldn't find the information online.
Unfortunately not. Once the tank drops below 'full', there will be air space between the sensor and the water and the sensor will no longer be able to make an accurate read on the water level.
The comment section does not appear to have a link of where to buy the sensor. I only see a link to your website store and cannot find the link to the sensor on that page either. Maybe this is a RU-vid thing where links to products are not showing up? I have noticed on most videos recently, that are no longer appearing in the descriptions. Any help you can provide finding a link to the product would be great.
I just watched this video. I cannot seem to enable Bluetooth sensors on the GX . I have updated to firmware version 3.01 however when I go to I/O in menu my only choices are analog and Digital. Bluetooth is not showing up. Any ideas?
I read the following review on Amazon and it looks like it is no longer compatible with the Cerbo GX. I was going to by them, but now I am not. Can you please verify and update your video if this is true? . "PSA: No longer compatible with Cerbo GX Reviewed in the United States on November 8, 2023 Size: Universal Pro Check WaterVerified Purchase If you're like me and you're buying these because of their compatibility with Victron's Cerbo GX, know that Mopeka changed the communication protocol with the new Pro Check Universal, eliminating compatibility with the Cerbo. I'm so frustrated. I bought several of the Universal models because of the supposed improvements when I could have paid less for the Cerbo-compatible older models."
I haven't heard that. That sounds like a good question to reach out to Mopeka directly with as we don't have any involvement with the hardware development of those sensors.
