I need to be able to calculate all incoming and outgoing ethernet packets to determine throughput in bits or bytes per second. Is is possible with filters ? I want statistics for selected UDP IP addresses and ports.

Thank you. This is exactly what I needed, step by step instructions. I've used Wireshark before while at university, but now I have to use it at my job with a version of Linux. It's not as straightforward as just clicking on the icon. The situation had me spinning for awhile.

can i use "tcp contains" then add a program like spotify? when i do that it just says client hello and just shows a few packets

with promiscuous mode you need to be connected to the network to capture the traffic & with monitor mode you do not need to be connected to capture the packets

from VM you cant, kali cannot overtake the WIFI access as it can only use the VM adapter, if you want to access WIFI from Kali you need to install Kali raw on the machine

I never cared about heavy Indian accent because my pc is healthy thanks to a lot of precious help/knowledge that i absorbed by watching tutorials made by Indians, among other things. I have come across videos where i had to pause and listen again to a phrase or two, but that's the worst case scenario. And the value of the information absorbed, is the only thing that matters. Thank you for such a helpful video unknown friend.

I'm experiencing the same issue. Not only that, but I'm only able to see my laptop's packet traffic. I have the promiscuous mode enabled, and I removed it to see if there was any difference, but I still can't see other device Ip addresses or youtube.
