How to Wire an in floor heat thermostat
This is the final step in getting your heated floor up and running! In this video I will walk you through the process of electrically connecting your thermostat to your newly installed in floor heat system.

Quick question. I used a plastic box and conduit. What do I do with the ground wire?

Looks great. How do you like your floor heating system? I'm surprised 14 gauge wasn't enough for 15 amps, I thought it was. Sorry you had to redo it. Don't forgot to phase tape that red wire. 👍

The in floor heat system is great. For a basement bathroom with tile it sure doesn't feel like it at all. Keeps the bathroom nice and warm, tile is warm. I really wouldn't do it any other way if I had to do it again some day. I guess code wise here all heating loads need to be 12 gauge even though the max output of the heating mat would draw much less than 15 amps in actuality. Might be more for future proofing then anything else. It was a short run to re pull so not a big deal.

Is this on a 20 amp breaker or 15?

This one is on a 20 amp breaker. But it really depends on your local building code, I could have got away with a 15 amp breaker based on the load, but code said I needed a 20 amp circuit and 12 gage wire. A larger in floor heating system covering more square footage might need something even bigger or even 240V.
