Wiring trailer lights for ANY vehicle

I went to the local U-Haul dealer to rent a trailer and they wouldn't let me have the one I wanted because the van didn't have trailer lights. I rented the open trailer instead and decided it was time to get honest trailer lights. $15 worth of wires and $2 worth of connectors later and now I can rent anything the van can pull.

Always making it look easy! One thing i totally despise is when i have trailer light issues 😮 But on the other side i cant stand them not working 😭

I don't make it look easy, it really is this time. I suppose you would get more issues than I would since you plug in a lot more often. I only did it because I finally got called out while renting a trailer LOL

All a bit different from what we fit in the UK. The clips you used, we call scotch locks. They don’t stand up to the weather we get, cause a lot of problems mainly due to corrosion. Nice tutorial though

I got rid of my trailer years ago but never had any trouble wiring the liughts. Doing it on a lowboy was a little different. Happy weekend, Bill!

@lewiemcneely9143 It's pretty much the same, but with a backup light wire and a different socket. Plus, you can have a whole lot more trailer behind you 🙂

@@GuysPlayingWithTools That old lowboy had nothing and I had to come from the tractor and that old thing was shot but we ran it anyway. I pulled it all the time so it was my deal. Those weree some of the REAL times.

Well at least the vehicle is equipped with the Holes in the section where you can run the wire for the trailer

thats great, the kit I used for my Truck apparently it showed that honda has a wire crossed for the running lights as they don't work from the harness to the trailer lights

The factory lights are installed at the dealer, if it's new enough for any hope of warrantee, make them fix it!

@@GuysPlayingWithTools i doubt it will happen, no recall on it. I found this information on a online Forum of owners of the kind of truck I have.. Many others report the same problem on the Gen2 Honda Ridgeline RTL

@@dfields9511 If it were mine I would buy one of those little 12" trailer light extensions and fix it in the extension. That way it works and you haven't touched the stock wiring. That would make a good video!
