Great video as always Nick. I was lucky enough to have a helicopter flight over the football stadiums last weekend and the pilot took us over BMD. It really does look magnificent.

Thanks Nick. I was down at Bramley Moore last Saturday. It looks even bigger now the outer structure is being completed. Love the views from over the water .Great views of our lovely city. I get so home sick looking at these when I'm back down south.

Early morning mist Nick. Drifts over West Lancs golf course where I was playing. Visibility was at least two hundred yards so still able to play. Used to work in Littlewoods in Old Hall Street (14 floors, now the Plaza) and from the higher floors you could often see the River blanketed and all that was visible were the ventilation shafts of the tunnel. The city would be clear though.

Nick, as commented on in your previous videos: the original specification for the flooring of the mezzanine was Wide-edged Granite setts BUT those very regular, narrow-edged, rectangular setts look less like Granite than they do the same sort of material as is being used for the Dock Water areas, i.e. concrete flags, but without blue glass insertions. Unless a droner gets very close, it's hard to say which material it actually is in the end.

Hi Nick good video as always, I was down on the beach at crosby by mine on Thursday and you could see the sea fog / mist rolling over the mersey coming from over New Brighton way it looked like something out of a horror movie.

Hi Nick. Great video as usual. I'm sure I remember from one of your previous vid's where you had some info from David Babcock about the western plaza that there were supposed to be sky lights in the roof of the tunnel behind the west facing terrace. But the roof seems to be solid. Any thoughts?

It looked like a damp thick mist/fog that appeared , looking at it near the arcade. I was there this afternoon to fly my drone , I didn’t bother to launch as visibility went bad quickly. I will go back Friday, I am getting a few coastal shots for my small channel. I don’t suppose you know why Wirral Drone Filming channel hasn’t uploaded videos for two years ? 👍

Mark: No, the 'windows' are not really windows. Please excuse me just copying-and-pasting my response to Tommy but when so many people keep asking the same question, it makes life easier to copy and paste and hope that at some point Nick actually reads them. ""Nick, quite a lot of people have asked your question from recent videos in the last month or so. The short headline is that the gaps are designed to be just so. They are a technical necessity and they will not be visible from the West in due course. If you want to know why and how so and the detail behind it, read on. 1) If you recall, the stadium is built in part on 'hard' dock quays and walls but also on the in-filled dock itself. As a result the stadium is actually built in the form of a 3x3 matrix (Think of the grid used for Noughts-and-crosses or Tic-tac-toe), with 2 expansion gaps seen on each side of the stadium, where you can see double steels. The central space of the grid is basically the pitch area (as it doesn't have any real weight sitting on it) and you can follow the lines of the expansion gaps out from the corners of the pitch area. Broadly speaking the North and South Stands sit on a much harder base (the old quays) than the West and East Stands (over the dock water basin). 2) So, where the old dock wall lies is broadly speaking the division between the West and East Stands and the North/South Stands. 3) The West Terrace and Concourse bridges across both old dock wall and old dock basin, so the underlying construct and foundations differ as well. 4) The commitment was made to protect the Old Dock Wall Granite Coping Stones and keep them in view. As a consequence it means that either side of the old Dock Walls the foundations comprise dug-in concrete foundations and the vast majority of the diagonal, Terracing side-cheek concrete wall sits on those foundational concrete slabs. 5) However, the wall can't sit on the old Granite Coping Stones and walls as it would damage them. So, over where the old Granite Coping Stones lie, the top of the Terracing side-cheek wall has to bridge across that structure, effectively a concrete RSJ. 6) BUT, folk may be forgetting that the Terracing Side-cheek walls are due to have Brick Facades mounted on them. When they fit those, they'll close off the current visible gap. 7) I don't know how the finish of the gap will be 'beautified' on the inside, under the mezzanine, but as the Old Dock Wall Granite Coping Stones will remain intentionally visible and protected from anything being placed on them (apart from the bottom of the terrace hovering on it at the outside juncture), I expect it will be made good in some way. {Now that we can see the metal grid, I can guess that it will be finished off internally with paneling, like a metal stud wall). I hope that answers the question suitably."

Nick, Could be wat off the mark but the gaps you speak of in the terracing wall on either side (9:01) look to me to be glazed. One of the apparent glazed units looks more like a door and appears to have a handle on it. Can anyone more knowledgable give a steer on this? The gaps, black against the white of the steps and wall do look somewhat incongruous to me and would surely not be left like that ..?

Tommy: It's another one of these cases where Nick hasn't read the comments or even forgets them as I posted a long explanation exactly a week ago when he asked the same question on the video. So, I am going to copy it across here with a little editing now that a new feature can be seen (which is the grid structure inside and under the mezzanine which is what you think is glazing, which it isn't). Those holes are not going to be seen from the outside. So, here is the copy across . . . . . "Nick, quite a lot of people have asked your question from recent videos in the last month or so. @@davidbadcock2225 Brilliant, thanks David. Not sure I'd seen that particular video but definitely hadn't seen your comment. That's de"mist" ified the matter for me. It was all smoke and mirrors... It's not uncomplicated, this construction malarkey is it? I remember many years ago working as a hod-carrier for two brickies. We got a start on a Wimpey site in Noctorum in Birkenhead. It was at footings stage. Being piece-work, a number of the gangs already on site were tipping barrow loads of rubbish into the dug out footing channels and then laying two courses of bricks on top of that. We left the site the same day. Dread to think of the state of those houses now. Fingers crossed for BMD eh..? Hope they managed to weed out any kopites getting on the job....
