You are correct, I have not made that journey yet. And most likely I wont, Just costs me too much to get there to make a video. But thank you for sharing your experience.
Thanks for the summary video of the Wisconsin State Parks. Another great place with lakeside sites and the best biking riding is in the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest. A person can bike from Mercer to St. Germain on bike trails and stop for ice cream in Boulder Junction or the Corner Store west of Sayner. The bike trail runs right by these NHAL campgrounds: North Trout, South Trout, Firefly, Crystal, Musky, and Plum Lake. It is really special to bike alongside Trout Lake (the largest lake in Vilas County) for about 1 1/2 miles. Keep up the good work. Maybe I will run into you again at another State Park.
Biking is safest and user friendly at Northern Highland. I have reserved and camped at Newport State Park many time. They have 16 sites which are all walk-in. Trees are not thick but some sites are better than others for stars. The beach is the best place at that park to see stars. The camping is year around as trails are friendly to XC skiers and snowshoes. Rock Island is perfect for stars but only has a few months of service by ferry during the summer.
Awesome video! I reference your channel when I'm trying to find information or trying to see what the parks look like. Can't wait to watch more of your previous content
At some point last year you mentioned that you were running out of state parks to visit. Have visited or thought about visiting some the campgrounds within the National Forests throughout WI? I stayed at 2 last year and drove through a few others and really enjoyed them. Most are first come first serve sites. I went to Spectacle Lake on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and the it was 90% empty and I scored the best site there (#7).
Great video. Lots of good info. However, you may want to add a correction. I just watched your video from my campsite at Newport State Park in Door County. They have several hike in camping sites. Most or all are on the water or very close to the water. It’s awesome here.
You are the second person this past month to let me know. Apparently, i have not been using the reservation system properl. My searches showed no sites. I have to activly look for walk in sites. Ill make a trip up in the future and take a look at them I will also include that exclusive search result in a future video about using wisconsin.goingtocamp.com
@SconnyWandering I've heard that too. We weren't sure, but the locals were saying Brew-nay, therefore we assumed that was correct. Notwithstanding, it was spelled wrong. No biggie.
