Instead of putting so much effort into changing the mind, put in effort to disassociate from the mind!! it is much easier. Mind is programmed to act in a certain way and this program is hard to understand. Simple is put in effort to distance oneself from bundle of thoughts, feelings, emotions, experiences etc. Don't even seek happiness, joy peace etc. these are all part of the mind. what comes from effort will go away by not putting the efforts.
