Great unboxing and introduction to this cool watch. I've had the AD770 for about 10 months and it's a real standout in my collection, even among much more expensive watches. The damascus steel does not show scratches and the Miyota 9-series has been more accurate and longer power reserve than some of my ETA 28xx watches. I wear mine on a Hirsch Duke strap. I've been surprised how versatile it is; I think it's somewhat of a hybrid between a dress and sport watch. This is a real special watch at killer price!
Thanks so much! That's awesome! From my time with this one so far, I can understand what you mean. It's a pretty incredible package, especially for the price. I'm a big fan of the Miyota 9 series as well. I agree about it being well suited to dress or casual/sport wear. Cheers
This looks gorgeous, congrats! The indices remind me a lot of an Aquaterra and I think they made a very good choice of combining the Damascus steel with that more restrained sunburst silver dial. The blue strap also fits perfectly. A few week ago I got the bronze Adamascus with green dial and it is one of my favourite watches, definitely not my last Wise!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience! I agree, they are reminiscent of Aqua Terra indices (a great choice in my book and it's always been one of my favorite watches). The silver sunburst is excellent, providing a touch of warmth and light play, while still being relatively subdued. Glad you're loving yours too! Cheers
i really love this watch! ive been wanting it for a long time. this is the one, this model exactly. can you add some outside pics under the sunlight. cant wait for the full review.. 🙂
I don't think you'll be disappointed from what I've seen so far! And, absolutely, on the outside footage. I already have mixed outdoor lighting from every angle/component, dial closeups, no/low light lume footage, etc. ready to go for the full review! Cheers
Oh man, that would be a stellar combo! This thing is an absolute steal from what I've seen so far. Super nice finishing and great looks. The full review footage will give a much better sense of its beauty (it made me want to buy another 😂). Cheers
Really impressed with the innovation at Wise, and their bronze AD8 diver is the current favorite of my watches. This one is also gorgeous. Damascus steel seems like such a cool feature, I wonder why these remain in the periphery of collecting culture. Too gimmicky? If AP, Patek, or Rolex put one out, would everyone suddenly swoon?
Absolutely, they're putting out some amazing watches and values. Yeah, it is a beloved material for many, but viewed as too much by many as well. The Wise polished execution makes it more subtle than most others I've seen. It's a good way to try it out, for those on the fence. Cheers
Great to see this coming to your channel. I keep going back and forth on Damascus steel cases. I love the case shape of this series, although I might have preferred it just a touch smaller for comfort. The Damascus steel all over does have a tendency to look very busy to my eyes in most footage. In some stills it seems more downplayed. It's therefore difficult to gauge. Based on that, if I were to try one, I'd likely opt for the dark gray option, with the thought being that it doesn't need additional colour accents and the dark-light play on tones of the case corresponds to the dial with polished accents on a dark background. It's not the variant that gets showcased most regularly, so only slightly disappointed you didn't opt for that one! ;-)
Thanks buddy! This wears great, but I would have preferred it to be 38mm as well. With this polished damascus, that's kind of the beauty, it seems to be quite subtle at a casual look or in most lighting. However, when you catch it right or look closer, you have this amazing (albeit still tasteful IMO) pop. It's a very different look to the typical damascus I've seen and suits the dressier style. Funny you mention the grey. I struggled between it and this one, but ultimately my longtime love of white/silver and blued hardware won. I like this enough so far that I'd happily have the grey too. Cheers
Hopefully I’ll be unboxing my Wise order next weekend🤞!… great color choices.. very handsome watch! Wise definitely gives you a lot of pop for relatively short money!
They are offering an incredible package for the money. After days of closely inspecting this one, I'm finding lots to love and very little to fault. It looks so good in footage with better lighting as well.
I have their 24k gold dial watch. Will probably pick up a few more watches from them but their ordering process is so difficult with all the different options. Looking forward to the full review.
I'm strongly considering that one too! Despite not being to my usual taste (polish or yellow gold), it's too cool. They're putting out some pretty amazing combos. This one looks so much better in the full review (outdoor especially) footage.
Always great seeing familiar faces! Wise is really developing into a brand to watch and this damascus showcases some of their capability. The supplemental footage I've captured so far for the full review better shows its stunning touches throughout. Cheers
I have a ton of Zelos and also own a bronze Wise ad8. Wise finishing is great and so is their lume. Only thing missing vs a Zelos I would say is access to solid secondary market whereas you retain most of your value with a Zelos on many of their models, however, this aspect to me at least is a relative unknown if I were to sell the Wise.
@JonathanTReviews , I went with the gray dial version, and it is a stunner. My only minor issue is that the crown feels very flimsy and delicate when I pull it out to adjust the time. Interested to know how yours feels.
@williamsipe1151 That's great to read it lives up to the pics! Funny you should mention that. While mine feels sturdy enough, it isn't the smoothest threading. It's the only very minor QC/refinement thing I've noticed. Everything else is crazy clean for the money.
For sure. While it's not quite to the level of a Grand Seiko, I think that's one of the closest comps for the case shape and look. The finishing (and look IMO) is exceptional for what you pay.
It looks so much better than this video did justice! The review footage will better showcase it. I agree, I'd prefer a smidge smaller, but it's fortunately still very wearable.
@JonathanTReviews modern retro is the correct way to describe it I think.i love Wise. One of the best microbrands with excellent design and specs. Keep up the good work.
