I've been using my Wise card for over three years now for transactions in Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea without any issues. Keep in mind that some stores may not accept contactless payments and may require you to insert your card and enter your PIN (this is common in most stores in New Zealand). You can simply choose debit for these transactions. The same goes for fueling up at any New Zealand petrol stations
@@vibnwis are you using old card? i have been order new card to this year. Mine is 2 years old. So i change new one. been using that for 2 years wihout contactless
I got my physical card. Application was easy, but the standard delivery was a nightmare in my area. If you have a problem with the delivery, first check your address and make sure it is correct, then may contact the customer service of the courier to resolve. You will need to be (very) patient with the standard courier if he/ she has problem with your address. Mine took 2 times (reorder new card) and 3 rounds of delivery (1 round for the 1st and 2 rounds for the 2nd) to be done with the assistant of customer service.
I did experienced the same as well due to delivery address...after more than 3 months, i have manage to get the wise card after insisted to opt out for expedited delivery
I just got my card and transferred some money into the Wise card via local bank account. The money is in SGD. Do I need to use ATM to withdraw cash or activate anything before going to Singapore? Do i have to do any cashless purchase before going to Singapore?
@@tomboyraider1015 you just need to activate it at any atm(where no withdrawing is actually needed, just put in and check balance will do) or do any purchase regardless any amount with wise card.
I’ve been using this method since last year, so far so good haha Pros: convert and cash in to IBKR relatively easy and quickly, fees lower and without much hassle or extra steps to be done in the process Cons: the holding limit just way too low, wish to increase more like 50k and below 100k ringgit if possible Haven’t got a chance to use that physical card yet, but trying to see if the virtual wise Apple Pay could be useful in my upcoming Japan trip this May 😂
Yesuuuu agree, the ease of funding IBKR is (*chefs kisses*)! Haven't bumped into any issue with the wallet limit yet coz i brought quite a bit of cash to Japan (like RM 6k+) hahaha! (touch wood)
I hate their customer service because they deliberately asked me to call them even though it should have been solved through email. So after they failed to resolve issue for almost a month, later I had to send them a tweet to help me and it was resolved within a minute lol.
I also applied the Wise physical card on 06/04 with normal delivery (City Link). Yesterday I had already received the card & delivery can be faster but due to hari raya. Same time like to thank you from your expalanation on Wise. From the previous video shown how to use Wise, I finally decided to use Wise card for my overseas trip.
Thank you for reviewing WISE. I found this when I had to book an accommodation in HK. Since I have been using my WISE so frequently, I got my WISE card sent to me for free probably due to a number of transactions that I’ve done previously. This physical card would cost between £5-£7.50 depending on the card you wish to have. Overall Wise is the best card and account that I ever have
I've been using wise for 5 years now, mainly for overseas transfer. Sometimes I can believe that the money is banked into the foreign account in just 2 seconds. I remember there used to be a time, when it took weeks.
Customer service is on point. I called on a Sunday and he helped me log back in my account and stayed on the phone while time. As well as answered quickly. Customer service on point.
ziet, love all your financial videos like moomoo, wise, how to submit tax and every other things. lots of knowledge from you. keep it up and cant wait for your next video
I got the wise, really convenient for travelling! It took 2 days to receive because their branch is in puchong! Although my issue is that I wasn't able to open a business wise account in Malaysia to receive payments from clients for providing services. Have to be resident of US....😢Paypal allows it, but their fees and exchange rate is sooo stingyy
I have Wise card and GX Bank card. And I just back from UK which I use only GX Bank card due to their 1% cash back which made it cheaper than Wise card.
@annathongsk may I know when using the GX bank card overseas, does it auto convert the MYR we have in the card to the overseas currency of the country we’re in? Thank u!
@@meenloo6216 it will convert at the spot rate at the time of transaction. The spot rate will be about the same with MasterCard conversion rate which are a bit higher than the xe rate but if you take in the 1% cash back given by GX Bank it will definitely cheaper than the mid rate. However oversea ATM cash withdrawal will not entitle for the 1% cash back. Since I was using it in UK which most transactions in UK are card transactions, it will be better off using GX Bank card rather than Wise card.
@@meenloo6216 the GX Bank card will auto convert any foreign currency transactions into RM at the spot rate during the transactions (without markup by the bank). When the transactions settled, day after GX bank will credit back 1% of the amount into your GX Bank account. It is just like usual debit card transactions
Tried with physical card in Japan, Singapore and New Zealand with no problem at all! but the cash holding limit is just toooo low! if youre a frequent oversea flyer, its definitely not enough.
yupz i support Wise. normal account hold RM20k for all currency combine but unlimited to business account. This Wise partly act like bank but dont have interest or loans. so their "profits" partly from fees but yes as u know they also in stock which i just find out right now. LOL i know Wise got something in their professionalism but dint expect they into stocks as well n that in GBP. ouch...
I’ve been using Wise for years. There are advantages but, instead of increasing their functionality, they keep removing it. It’s not nearly as good as it used to be.
omg tq.. theres the one specific question ive got answered.. coz i only use wise for my annual japan trip.. and maybank rates when withdrawing in japan are so trash
Have you all used Wise card in Korea? Can you it in restaurants, convenience stores, shopping areas in Seoul? How much KRW can withdraw cash twice in ATM without fees?
I would like to know whether it would be more expensive if I just left my money in MYR and spend it in a foreign currency abroad by letting WISE do the auto conversion … as opposed to converting it to the foreign currency beforehand ( i know converting before hand we can get our desired rate) … but let’s say the exhange rate was the exact same ,is the first option more costly by incurring any extra fees ?
That's a great advice video. I have a question for you ziet. If i was a president of the world and I was appointing you as 'finance minister' for world's economy would you take that role ?
Hello Ruben! That’s a super cool question 👀 honestly I wouldn’t, too much politics will be involved and I won’t be able to do what I like freely - the money & power that comes with it might not be worth the trade offs, but im sure there will be someone more qualified and eager than me to fill into that role😁 As for now, Im genuinely happy to make financial content without any restraint!
Thanks for your sharing. I would like to apply a Wise card using your affiliate link.😊 I would like to know, if i withdrawal USD 5000 to Wise card from my investment in stock market or broker. It is more than Rm20,000. So is the money will still into my wise card?
Thank you Melvin! To answer your question: it should go through just fine, even if it’s more than RM20,000 (one-off). Wise doesn’t have a specific limit for receiving funds, but you can always ask them first beforehand just to be sure, if you're not rushing for it
i have a problem when verify by passport all done payment done but wise say more verify by your adress document its so painfull wise receive payment and say after need more verify need
Perhaps you should mention they’re not issuing cards in the US. It took over 7 days for my money to be deposited in my Wise account after being withdrawn from my banking account. My Colorado Credit Union only charges flat 1% Thanks for teaching me a valuable lesson🤯
I am new to Wise card. I heard Wise card from a group of face book as I am planning a trip to Japan. I read some posts from face book saying about Wise card so convenience. I have a few questions about Wise card. 1. If I open an account and exchange US dollar to Japanese yen, the money will be from my personal bank. Am I correct? That means when i oepn an account, I have to link my bank account information to my wise account. Is it correct? Once the money is converted to Japanese yen, it will be sit on my wise account. Right now, US dollar is really strong to yen, I can convert the money to yen. When I arrive at Japan, I just used physical wise card to withdraw money. Am I correct? 2. Do I need to make any international transfer or any transfer before I can withdraw the money from my wise card for the trip? or I just need to withdraw the money from ATM machine in my country (US). If I withdraw too much yen in Japan, can I make a deposit put the yen back to my wise card from ATM machine? 3. Can I have multiples currency on my account, like Japanese yen and Hong Kong dollar or Euro? 4. Since you said no physical branch in any where, are there any phone numbers to get help or ask any questions in US?
Thank you very much for this informative video. I got a Q. if I take the digital card, will sms be sent to my local number? coz normally I remove Malaysian sim when overseas, and use the foreign country sim.
As u mention there is RM20000 max holding on the Wise eWallet, how about if i want to transfer money to IB which exceed that amount ? For example i want transfer 30k USD to IB, any regulation on that ?
@@masterj0j0j0 thank you for the tips. Btw, hot tourist area are more easy now with cashless payment. I hardly touch my cash. However, I prepare some cash just in case. It was my first day today ☺️
Malaysian here. I have no idea why my wise card got declined several times when spending in Europe. The shops that I spent on were literally Starbucks & Louis Vuitton, not some random shops. And I did check that my EURO balance was enough. And one of the Singaporean accompanied us for the tour actually succeeded using his Wise card to make payment. I got so confused. Does anyone have any idea why did this happen?
Just a question how much does it cost when i will fund my wise account ? Bcs from bahrain its showing me 1000usd will cost 15$ anyway so it will be 21 usd then when i will sell my etfs or stocks how much does interactive brokers charge me ? And when i withdraw to my bank account how much will be the fee ? Can u tll me So lets say if i invest 10000usd and its cost me 210 usd . When i will withdraw my 10000 lets say its become 11000 can i know how much interactive will charge me from withdrawing from ibkr to my bank account in bahrain ??
Very helpful video. Thank you. I sent my wife and daughter to Malaysia so she can go to school there, and in the meantime, I'm waiting for the MM2H visa to get sorted out. We are buying property to rent there and I need a more affordable way to send money from the UAE. This looks like maybe the solution.
@@ZietInvests Yes, but after signing up I found out I can only send 10,000 MYR per day. I need to send a total of 1,650,000 MYR over two payments. Do you have any advise on another affordable way?
I live in the U.S. Applied/set up a Wise account few days ago. After setting up my account, was told that Wise cards are not currently being given to those in the U.S. Hmmm....
Yeah, it seems like Wise cards are currently unavailable for U.S. residents. Hopefully, they’ll resume issuing them soon. You can keep an eye on their updates or try contacting their support to see if they have any timeline.
If Jordanian currency isn’t listed in your app, one option is to convert MYR to USD or EUR first, then exchange that to Jordanian Dinar (JOD) when you’re in Jordan or using another service. You might also want to check if there’s an alternative app or service that supports JOD directly.
Ziet, thank for your sharing. I have trip to Japan, if I bank in the money by ringgit. 1st question, if I want withdraw yen on Japan. Should I manually need to convert to yen only on wise apps system only able to withdrawal the money ? 2. Same as pay as debit card, do I need to convert to yen? Or the wise will automatically convert from ringgit to yen during paying?
Hi! 1. Your money (in any currency) will be automatically converted to JPY when you withdraw - so nope, no need to convert manually yourself! 2. No need! All auto converted!
@@ZietInvests Thank for your advice, I had purchased the wise card already, however still yet to test on foreign country, my next trip was travel alone on Japan due to company matter. Slightly worry because yet to test before, anywhere, thank for your advice
If i transfered some money into the wise card (to SGD), do i need to withdraw cash or do a transaction here locally to activate it or anything before going to Singapore?
I opened a wise account, but could not transfer money to it from Singapore Bank. There was NO support, but BS calls from Philippines (?)where they asked many things from their script for 30 minutes. But in the end I transfered money from Poland Bank after opening new wise account there with a new email. So, bottom line, there is NO wise service really.
I find the auto conversion to be a nuisance sometimes as I was not able to choose the currency which I want to use for the payment regardless of savings. What I mean is if if I have an RM and SGD wallet and paying a GBP transaction. I was not able to choose to pay RM as I wanted to retain SGD for something else. So with the auto conversion they selected the SGD. I could be wrong. If anyone knows how to manually select a currency for payment pls let me know. Cheers
Hmmm, if you're from Malaysia, probably can try GXBank or BigPay? Otherwise, might have to see whats available in your country, worse case would be bank's debit/credit card (which unfortunately means worse rates :x)
So many years down the road. It’ll be troublesome to withdraw from ibkr after investing a lot. How to realised and transfer back the money if wise cannot hold much.
Can I add money into my wise account from a post office like I want to know if I have cash and I want to add that money into my wise account how can I do that as I know the post office doesn’t let me as the card doesn’t work with them
Hey! Using your virtual Wise card in Taiwan should be pretty straightforward. Just add it to your phone's mobile wallet (like Apple Pay or Google Pay) and you can use it like a normal card for payments. Wise also offers good exchange rates when converting currencies, so you’ll get a fair deal when spending in TWD!
for withdrawal let say in japan, does u need to open a yen account and only then witdraw from that currency or just maintain it in myr account and u can withdraw the amount from their atm?
If you’re in Japan and want to withdraw yen, you don’t necessarily need a yen account. You can withdraw from your MYR account, but the ATM will convert the currency and charge fees for that. Having a yen account might save on conversion fees though!
I have the card, but havent use at oversea. so i have enquiry that if i have 2 currency, such as RM and euro, when i spend at Europe, will it automatic use my euro currency? or do i need do any setting?
Hello ~ it should automatically use your euro balance when you’re in Europe. If you want to make sure, you can check the Wise app settings and select euro as the default currency for that region.
If we already transferred 25.87 USD via debit card but we pressed the wrong button to cancel the transfer. Will they transfer the money to me? Will I have to wait a long time? If you transfer next time Will there be any problems with the new transfer?
Does WISE support conversion from other currency to another? let’s say i converted MYR to SGD, and then convert SGD to KRW? because I have gone thru the RHB Multi Currency account which it only allow to exchange from MYR to other currencies, but not from other currencies to the other.
Even though my first physical card was lost during delivery process, rest assuredly Wise does mention if card weren't arrived on time you may request new card without additional charges. Take note guys. Ps: My physical card is free! Don't know why anyway🤔
The fee is kind of competitive! I travelled most of my time due to work & I hate the fee in most banks when come to withdrawals! Had so much problem in Indonesia as the per withdrawal is very small and every withdrawal from the ATM adds up to the cost!
Great review.. thinking of using yr link to get my wise card.. i often use my MCA bank card … currently travelling in japan when i stumble across yr utube…as Malaysian can i fund my wise card default currency in sgd$ and bypass the rm20000 limit?
The idea of the card is that you avoid atm withdrawls and use it in stores to prevent atm fees. That is why you change currency to local currency using the app.
Yes, you can transfer from your US account to Wise. You can do this as often as you like, but the daily limit usually depends on your bank's policy and Wise’s limits, which can vary based on the currency and transfer method. It's best to check directly with Wise for the specific limits applicable to your account!
I have my wise card but haven't used it yet. I'll be going to the Philippines in a couple of months and need to make sure it works before the trip. can I just transfer some money to the card, just to see if it works correctly, or do I have to transfer it to some account. never transferred money other than money gram.
