Witch Cult - South-Coast Powerviolence [2011] 

Powerviolence is one type of music that if someone says they dont like i just say i understand.

Warms my heart to see powerviolence alive and well, it was so fucking fun when the scene was swinging and more and more bands started doing the powerviolence thing with their own method and interpretation. Every fucking shitty drifter house had a cool name and was a makeshift venue and fire hazard. Was DIY and fast and active as the crust scene, except it got a bit less smelly and there was a lighter attitude, viva powerviolence

I remember that Gummo scene with the Dragonout song by sleep!

intro and art made me wanna go listen to Sleep.

I credit the Gummo soundtrack for helping shape my musical tastes into adulthood. Who could imagine a compilation album with both Spazz and Sleep?

10 minutes in life ain’t shit. But 10 minutes in PowerViolence seems like a lifetime…

Still one of the coolest power violence bands around imo. Too bad there isn't more material to listen to.

Man this takes me back to those days in high school when I spent so much time trying to learn about as many punk bands as I could. My introduction to Powerviolence was Fuck On The Beach. They were great. I'm digging the doom intro on this stuff!

Yeah, its called get on the internet and look for powerviolence and add the bands that are actually cool to your playlist. In this genre it really means just weeding out like 1/3 of what you hear. Most of it is pretty good.

Funny the way the Gummo ripped off all those bands they used. I bought the OST when it was released as well as the VHS. I use to talk to some of the guys from Mystifier through email back in the late 90's. Whose song "Give the Human Devil His Due" appeared on it. They weren't to happy about it when they found out and weren't even told or asked by the director. They were curious to hear how their music was used in the film anyways, so I sent them a copy and they sent me some of their merchandise for free. Later I got in contact with some of the other bands like Bethlehem and asked them the same question. Nobody ever sought their permission to use their tracks either. Kind of lame on Korines part for ripping off underground struggling artists like that. Most of his films besides Gummo & Kids sucked anyways. Especially his latest films. This song is ok but it basically sounds like a straight copy of Sleep and Spazz with Bethlehem vocals mixed together off the Gummo OST. Not very original.
