I love Wednesday, The Good Witch, and Willow from Buffy. I definitely could use Ursula too! Thank you for sharing this idea with us. It's good to see more ideas. I've seen Molly's, and you both are so inspiring.💜
That’s cool we have some of the same loves!!! Yeah, Molly is very inspiring. And for more ideas I highly recommend Kelly Ann Maddox’s book Rebel Witch!!
I hear you talking about the candles and it reminds me of my father. In 2000 my mother died and my father bought devotion candles (plastic, the same as you). Every 9 days he put a new one in front of a Maria statue(?) and the photo of my mother. Always burning even when he was on holiday. My sisters and I didn't liked it, the burning candle when nobody was home, but my father said: Nothing will happen, your mother and Maria will take care for it. The plastic doesn't get hot and will not burn. But I like a glass one a bit more.
@@correganthecrone I think supervised is the best way to use the candles. And maybe put them on something what cannot get hot. Stone or glas. Not wood or iron.
I LOVE this idea! I WAS brought up Catholic and I was just in a Catholic Church today for the first time since I truly dedicated myself to witchcraft - So I was feeling a bit weird in there listening to the service. I think creating devotionals and carrying my own chosen saints with me when I need them will help me feel more grounded and authentic in such situations. Thank you for the inspiration!
Thinking on this, most of mine would come from Buffy, Star Trek, Stargate, LOTR/Hobbit and Star Wars. It's not traditional but 'Pop' culture is our mythology and there are certain things that stay with us all our life.
I've had Pagan and witchy saints for as long as I can remember -- I think I got the idea from the Gnostic Saints of Thelema -- and I write about them occasionally in my grimoires and journals but I'd never thought to make them their own devotional book or candles! Your work is always so inspiring! I'm definitely going to create some devotional art for them in my art grimoire. Some of my saints are legendary and historical figures; my pop-culture saints are Hermione Granger, Sirius Black, Sailor Moon/Princess Serenity, Inara Serra, She-Ra, Peter Pan, and Wendy Darling. :)
I love the Good Witch!!! The movies where filmed In the next town from where I live, She was great in Jag as well --very strong female character 😊hank you for sharing
I'm so excited to try this. I am on board with making "saints" out of anyone you want. I've been working with one of the Weavers in the Weaver Oracle since the beginning of the year and she has become a Saint for me so she is going to be the first candle I'll make. Thanks, I always get so much inspiration from your videos. Editted to add: I went to look for candles to use, and Walmart has all kinds of "saint" candles - Saint Angelina Jolie, Saint Celine Dion, Saint Stevie Nicks, Saint Mister Rogers, as well as a few traditional Catholic saints. 🤣😂🤣😂
Yay! I’m glad you are inspired to do this!!! I’m so surprised to hear that Walmart has done these, that’s cool! We don’t have Walmart in Australia or else I’d be buying a Saint Stevie candle for sure 😆
This is amazing. Not new to me either (I also heard it from both Molly and Kelly Ann), but it's something I've always been drawn to and truly need to use more. As much as I loved mythology as a kid, none of the myths really spoke to me the way the stories I read/watch now do. Pop culture is our modern mythology and I don't care a bit if anyone disagrees. The stories we tell today are just as important as the ones they told hundreds of years ago. I am also terribly shocked no Harry Potter characters were in there. I kept expecting to see Saint Trelawney when you turned the page 😆 (Btw, have you ever read the Simon Snow trilogy by Rainbow Rowell? It's a tribute to HP, especially the shippy part of it, but I think you might enjoy it since you like HP so well.) You mention plastic holders in Church. The one I grew up in uses them exclusively. They trust less in God then in the fact they pop the candles into glass holders (with sand at the bottom?) then too. This way they are cheaper and easier to switch out.
Ohh I one hundred percent agree that our pop culture are our myths!! Let’s face it, they’re the SAME stories just told differently!!! Thanks for the book recommendation… I’ll definitely check it out!! Aaaahhhhh…. They put the plastic candles in glass!! That makes SO much more sense now!!!! I just figured they had REALLY strong faith ☺️🙏🏼
Thanks so much for letting me know that!!!! I’m not familiar with Slavic traditions so have only encountered her in stories. That’s awesome to know she’s actually a goddess!!!
