Just today - My lovely gf surprised me with tickets to see ‘em at The Stone Church in Brattleboro VT next month. Dec 21st. Happy Solstice. See ya there!
This RIFF!!!!!!!!!! One of the heaviest ever written, and that sweet, sweet, sweaty Fuzz. Just has that massive sound with the clipping of the waves. I wonder if he reverses the neck pickup so it runs out of phase set on the center position on the toggle. It definitely has that Clapton “Woman” tone but drenched in fuzz even more so than Cream. I’m mean this song would hold its own on any Sabbath album but is good enough to be an opener on Paranoid or Vol.4 especially Vol.4!!! It’s a rock-n-roll masterclass on writing a massive RIFF, not a chord progression or part, but an actual huge repetitive arranged order of bar chords! That’s what a fucking Riff is! Example: Hall&Oates-progression, Journey-Progressions, REO Speedwagon-progressions, Emerson,Lake&Palmer-progressions! Man those bands are total late 70’s cringe. Now on the other half you got dudes that know Muddy Waters invented electricity, and that my friends is called the school of the almighty RIFF. Bands such as:Blue Cheer, Sabbath, Led Zep, Deep Purple, Molly Hatchet, Skynyrd ( side note Saturday Night Special, Give me back my bullets, Working for MCA, and The Needle and the Spoon have some of the heaviest riffs of the 70’s) Southern Rock isn’t always thought of as heavy because of bands like Marshall Tucker, 38 Special, the Outlaws, Little Feet, etc. not that they aren’t good bands for the most part. But you put on a DOWN, or EHG, or Alabama Thunderpussy, Weedeater, Corrosion of Conformity, and so on and you are gonna hear Bounty Hunter, Give me Back my Bullets, Flirting With Disaster, any number of Black Oak Arkansas songs, Simple Man, etc. Listen to the song “Stone the Crow” by Down and that song could have easily been on Nothin’ Fancy or Street Survivors, just remove Phil and add Ronnie VanZants vocal and not even touch the music it could stay exactly the same. No offense Phil because when it comes to southern rock you’re in my top 3, 1)Ronnie VanZant 2)Danny Joe Brown 3)Phillip H. Anselmo!!!! Anyway I’ve digressed so far I don’t even remember what I was commenting about originally! Hahaha LOL! Oh yeah #FucknRIFFS #ol’son. 🎸🔊🔊🔊🔊⚡️⚡️🤘🏻🤘🏾🤘🏿🍻🚬🥃🚬🎸🔊🔊🔊🔊⚡️⚡️🚬🚬🚬⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️🍻🥃⚡️⚡️⚡️🤘🏻🤘🏾🤘🏿
One never taught compassion the true vision given. Be blind and want to be HATED most. Thems discretion Given by them, alone. Called given in the same hour. AIM at them. NOT WANTED!
I find it hilariously ironic that you post that on THIS video. Mascis is the drummer for Witch, so him sucking at the guitar is completely IRRELEVANT to Witch.
Latecomer alert!! I have been a hip hop head since 83, raised on Beatles, Stones, Zep, Simon & Garfunkel, grew up with Guns N Roses, Metallica, AIC, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, STP, love me some Pumpkins, ACDC, Sabbath, Qotsa, found some Goatsnake Flower of Disease, Tame Impala, all the while still a hip hop head....but this (full length track) just blows me away and the album is great, I just ordered it on vinyl in fact. Anyway, some of you know what you are talking about and I would like some recommendations of bands similar to Witch, I am just going to listen to St Vitus for the first time in about 1 minute! Thank you in advance....
