I used to think the same thing about my previous girlfriend, but fortunately I realized it wasnt worth the stress. Much happier now.

In 4 years I've taken 6,000 screenshots of Eyes Wide Shut and found an incredible amount of hidden clues and a definite plot that isn't quite like the surface/face value story. It's got many rapid barrages of clues that you can only really notice with freeze frame, such as characters quickly pointing to things, or pointing to each other as well as tricks with lights and lighting and shadow. Kubrick used 50 years of skills and tricks and it culminated in EWS. E.g., there are 2 Red Cloaks, not 1. That's just to start with...

I never knew that about Oppenheimer. Neither did I recognize any Indian influence in the movie.

I love your insight; it made me think Eyes Wide Shut might actually be the prequel to the film, 'Being There' (which might've been ghost directed by Kubrick). There's a verse in the Bible (an important book in the occult) that says "indeed, ye are gods, yet you shall die like men and fall like one of the princes." The final scene of Being There is one of my favorite scenes in cinema. So hilarious.

It's possible that some who are "semi rich" get involved in sex orgy cults, etc. But, especially considering all the other movies and info out there, I don't think it's reasonable to conclude that there would be so much matching info if it were fantasy (in other words, the ultra rich being deeply involved in Satanism, etc. as a means of power, connecting it to real life obvious examples like the Rothschild mansion).

Outside of what one may read or see, research into the occult also has to rely on anecdotal information. As a Christian from Africa, the mentioned sexual rituals and types don’t rattle me at all. In our occult circles, sex with one’s own mother/sister/daughter can be demanded by the demonic spirt and it’s priest. So raising one’s daughter to be a muse for the occult group does not seem far fetched. Also, spiritual virtue is real and can be deprived from a person. Hence the notion of sleeping with a youthful woman to exchange her young blood for an old one. These two demonic spiritual concepts are widely known in Africa. Westerners must try to hold back shock and disbelief when researching secrets of this world. Occultism is a demonic spirituality, therefore the ritual sex they have cannot be meaningless. The biggest takeaway wasn't necessarily what was left out, but instead what was left in. - Kubrick had clearly been to "gatherings" of similar people, set & setting. It's a big secret for them, you see. The parties are real, that we know. -We can only imagine what goes on behind closed door with some of the most powerful people in the country/world in attendance and in anonymity.

Harlan answered that the studio demanded an R rating, not an X, and so they had to insert faked figures into the orgy scene video to block X-rated activities. (It seems odd to me that Kubrick would film X-rated scenes and hand the film over to the studio if he knew the drill. But, maybe that is what film makers do to see how much they can get away with. I have some old musician friends who vehemently defended Crowley, too. They told me that Crowley was "only joking" about anything gross and you just have to know how to read him to know what was real and what wasn't. What is the Austrian movie version called? I've read Arthur Schnitzler's Dream Novella in the original German, but wouldn't say it's much like EWS.

It details a lot of perversions that were common in the decadent society of Viennese society of the early 1900's, including an account of elitist types hosting orgies in a massive suburban mansion.
